Academics

This week in ELAR

We have had an amazing time this week. We went to the library and learned some really cool stuff on the Chrome books! We also took our Istation assessment so that I can place them in appropriate reading groups. Additionally, Mrs. Sanchez, our school counselor, came to visit and did an amazing lesson!

Next week, we will be focusing on academic vocabulary, as well as more Istation instruction. We will also be continuing our writing research project! They are having a blast with it!! We research on our iPads and the Mac computers!

We are getting better with our reading log summaries. Thanks for looking them over before you initial! Have a great week!

This week in Math

This week we will further develop proficiency with adding and subtracting whole numbers and decimals. These skills will enable your child to solve mathematical and real-world problems efficiently. These skills will also help your student estimate sums and differences in order to determine the reasonableness of solutions.

Every student now has a Think Through Math account. The website is http://lms.thinkthroughmath.com. Each student received a small card with their username and password. As homework, your child should complete 2-3 lessons per week.

This Week In Science

This week we will begin our Matter unit. We will be utilizing the StemScopes app and complete an Engage Activity, an Explore and Explain lesson on the different states of matter and how different materials change between them, and an assessment over the week's material.

This Week in Social Studies

This week we will begin our 5 week unit on Colonial America. We will kick off this unit with a brief study of the explorers that led the way to the Americas. Students will begin a project next Monday that will be due on Monday, October 20. More details to come!
