Superintendent Jara Announcement
Superintendent Jara announced a new program to deter students from bringing weapons on campus. We will conduct periodic searches of random students. Remember: No weapons are allowed on campus. Every morning, please check your children's backpacks or anything that they can conceal a weapon in. Thank you for your support to ensure safe schools. For more information, go to ccsd.net. English Department News
This is what is happening in your student’s English class this month:
In 9th Grade:
Students are working hard to improve writing skills. They will have their next summative assessment on October 30.
In 10th Grade:
Students in the tenth grade are working to finish up their Rhetoric Unit. They are also looking forward to their next round of iReady testing.
In 11th Grade:
Students are working on preparing for the ACT. They have recently all been in the library learning to use the Testing and Education Reference Center Database. This will provide students with an ACT online course to help further prepare them.
In 12th Grade:
In English 12 we are all working on getting students ready to write their next argument essay and studying Shakespeare. Students are also learning how to use academic language when discussing the text in groups. They are also being taught how to work together towards a goal as a group.
Esto es lo que está sucediendo en la clase de inglés de su estudiante este mes: En 9no Grado: Los estudiantes están trabajando duro para mejorar sus habilidades de escritura. Tendrán su próxima evaluación sumativa el 30 de octubre. En 10mo Grado: Los estudiantes de décimo grado están trabajando para terminar su Unidad de Retórica. También esperan su próxima ronda de pruebas de iReady. En el grado 11: Los estudiantes están trabajando en la preparación para el ACT. Recientemente, todos han estado en la biblioteca aprendiendo a usar la Base de datos del Centro de Referencia de Pruebas y Educación. Esto proporcionará a los estudiantes un curso en línea de ACT para ayudar a prepararlos aún más. En el grado 12: En Inglés 12, todos estamos trabajando para preparar a los estudiantes para escribir su próximo ensayo argumentativo y estudiar a Shakespeare.
