Think about: Have you ever had a student who disrupted your class? How did you handle it?
Do you take time for your lunch or do you work through it?
Non-Negotiables
I expect that you will read over this sheet and ask me any questions you may have.
Vaping is an issue
Watch your plugs and do not leave students unattended.
The students are also vaping in the locker room. The locker rooms have been unlocked all week and I have had to stop many students from going in there.
There is minimal if any odor. They are small and easy to hide.
Be aware and keep your eyes open for suspicious behavior.
Fire Drill
Ask a veteran teacher what to do if you didn't make the meeting to know exactly where to go and what to bring.
Dr. Moore is working on making a nicer, easier to read map. Thank you so much Dr. Moore!
DEAR time
Be sure that you are reading to the students and students have time to read on their own. I have given each of you an envelope with discussion questions to use with the students. You can use these when you read to them or to open discussion about the books they are reading. You can do this the last 5 minutes of DEAR time.
Data
We made a D.
If we make another D next year, we will get an automatic F.
We are in school improvement right now and I have to write a multi-page plan, go to many meetings and meet with all of you often.
Goals:
Use data to drive instruction.
Use the backward design in making lesson plans and building tests.
Make a C at minimum.
Increase percentages at the MEETS level on the STAAR.
Increase Closing the Gaps percentages by increasing percentages for the economically disadvantaged students meeting MEETS.
October 2 - home visits
When you get to the home:
Introduce yourself
Give them the report card
Ask them to make an appointment to come see you-be sure to tell them when they can come
Let them know that you enjoy having their child in your class
Do not:
Go alone - I will be forming groups from the list of 4 students you send me
Go into the home
