Emails from Teachers via TEAMS

One great feature in TEAMS (grade book) allows teachers to email parents directly from inside the grade book. When you receive emails from a teacher from TEAMS it will tell you the teacher it is coming from as well as the title (and number) of the course.

Please take the time to read these emails. It may be only to you, and could include a copy of your student's current progress report (what's in the grade book right now), or an attachment of something your student is missing in class. It could also be an email as a reminder to all students/parents of something going on in class or something that is coming up and may include an attachment of an assignment, review, permission slip, etc.

We thank you in advance for taking the time to read any messages received from NFHS teachers and look forward to working with you for the success of your student. If you have any questions regarding what is sent, please contact the teacher.

Friday Funny

If April showers bring flowers, what do May flowers bring?

See bottom of Falcon Focus for answer...Happy Friday!

Thank you Veterans

On November 11th, the hallways of North Forney High School resonated with the sounds of Echo Taps as Band Director Mack Wood and junior Taylor Foster played at the main staircase. The sound of this reverent music was played as all students and staff stood in silence to honor the service of our Veterans.

We at NFHS would like to thank all past, present and future servicemen and women for their dedication and sacrifice. We thank you for our freedom.

That First Bad Haircut

Please help a yearbook student out

We all have that one haircut in our past that we dread finding pictures of...I'll totally admit mine was a mullet. Business in the front and party in the back. Mind you, I was only in 3rd or 4th grade so not much business or party, but I seriously cringe when we find pictures of that time and the family loves to laugh.

I share this with you because we have a student who is planning a spread in the yearbook that will showcase our students and their first bad haircut. Come on parents...it's another great way to embarass your kiddo and you know you live for those moments (at least my mom seemed to).

If you are willing to share this time in your child's life, Katherine needs:

  • A picture of the bad haircut
  • When did this haircut occur?
  • Was there a reason: a dare, was it for a camp, did the guard fall off the blade at the salon (yes I've seen this happen), or was it just "hip," I use that word lightly, at the time
  • Email this information to katherine.buie@edu.forneyisd.net

Thanks for your help!

A LOT of celebrations going on around campus this week!! If you didn't know, some of the most common traits among Falcons are independence, tenacity, curiosity , and pride among other things. We believe our students are proving that have the tenacity to continue putting in the hard work for the things they aspire to achieve. Please be sure to read about the successes of our greatest assets...our students.

Congrats Kyle Garcia

Kyle traveled last Friday with Cross Country coaches Scott Delozier and Almarie Soto-Ortiz to Old Settler's Park in Round Rock. Let's give Kyle a HUGE round of applause for placing 5th in the STATE with a time of 15:55 and covering a distance of 3.1 miles!! Kyle finished 6th last year with a time of 16:15, so he improved not only his time but his place as well. A lot of hard work and time went into accomplishing this feat.

Kyle is an outstanding student athlete and is being recruited by several colleges to extend his running career to the next level.

CONGRATS KYLE...Falcon Nation is proud of you!

All-District Volleyball Team 2014

Lady Falcon Volleyball players had a history-making season: our first win against Forney High School and our first foray into play-off play. Let's just add to this amazing year of great effort and perseverance with several ladies receiving district honors.

  • Receiving First team honors are: Taylyn Cantu, Breana Powell, Charmece King

A great season ladies, can't wait to see what you accomplish next year.

NFHS Singers Advance in All-State Choir Auditions

On Tuesday four North Forney singers competed in the third round of the TMEA All-State Choir auditions. Falcon Nation (and Mr. Hitt) is pleased to announce that three of the four qualified and advanced to the fourth and final round in January at the “Area” level.

Those moving on to Area auditions include:

Lauren Dalton – senior alto I

Kyle Grubbs – senior bass II

Trent Hall – junior bass II

It is from this last audition that students are seated in the TX All-State Choir. Each year some 16,000 students begin this long process and from that around 450 will be named to the various state choirs. If you know any of these students please congratulate them for their hard work and dedication.

Go Falcons!

Inaugural Future Falcon 5K

If you didn't get a chance to participate in the Future Falcon 5K this year then it's definitely something to put on the calendar for next year. More than 200 people ran in the first ever Future Falcon 5K and it was a GREAT. Well organized, a simple route to follow, lots of support (Thanks to NFHS cheerleaders). The only downside to this particular run was the north wind that was nice little push when it was behind you but pretty chilly when running into it, but that's completely out of the organizer's hands.

A big thanks to Erin Moore (Smith Elementary) and her team of volunteers for putting together this event. We look forward to watching its growth in the years to come.
