Top Ten Thompson Crossing Things to Keep in Mind:
1. Car Rider drop off line will start releasing students at 8:40am when the first bell rings. To make this an efficient process, we encourage you to have your kids ready to get out on the left side of the car and to not exit from the right side. Please pull forward to the stop sign and let students out between the designated space that will have adults waiting to greet and assist.
2. Please help us as you are valued guests visiting during lunch to consider not using your cell phone while you spend precious time with your child on the stage. We prefer you spend the time visiting and hearing about the highlights of the day. Please also remember that ONLY your student can eat with you when you are here. While we know it is never intentional on your part, when other kids try to eat on the stage with your student, it causes angst and hurt feelings for those that do not get asked.
3. Please send in a note or call us in the morning regarding changes in transportation, as well as attendance. The afternoon gets very busy in the office, especially this year with high enrollment!
4. Car Rider Pick Up: Park in the circle and in line. Be prepared to show your ID card if you don't have your tag hanging on your mirror and please be patient with us.
5. We are a latex balloon and birthday treat free zone school! This means that we will celebrate student birthdays in the classroom only and your child is always welcome to bring in some non-edible treat for their classmates, such as bookmarks, a pencil, or even donate a book to the classroom!
6. Fundraiser information will be coming home soon for our Fun Run! Your support will be greatly appreciated as this is our first fundraiser for the school.
7. Positive partnerships with the school are important to us. Please reach out to your teacher if you have concerns or would like to encourage them for their hard work. WE understand that we will make mistakes and are trying to do our best! WE want your child to succeed, be engaged, enjoy school, feel loved and appreciated, but most importantly believe in what we are doing! Our community is only as strong as what ALL of us do together!
8. Bus riders might be slightly delayed this week as we tweak our dismissal procedure for safety reasons. Although it will be our goal to be on time every day, we are aware that this will all be new to everyone as they leave our building to board the buses.
9. Thompson Crossing/FC spirit wear (tshirts, sweatshirts, etc) are still for sale for this last week. Thanks to our PTC for organizing this!
10. We love and appreciate each and every one of you! Take time to thank your teacher, our assistants, custodian, secretary, or any Thompson Crossing staff member for all of their hard work to prepare for this year!
We look forward to seeing you soon and your child EACH and EVERY day!
Regards,
Jeffrey J. Murphy, PROUD TC Principal
Clinic News
School Nurse Services The goal of school nursing is to maximize the health and safety of our students during the school day while minimizing time out of class. Due to this, if a student reports to the clinic with signs or symptoms of a contagious illness the parent or guardian will be called to pick up their student. The school nurse will follow the general guidelines and instruction set by the Indiana State Department of Health, Marion County Health Department, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Signs and symptoms of a contagious illness that students will be sent home for are: temperature of 100 degrees or greater, witnessed vomiting, diarrhea, undiagnosed rash, eye redness with discharge, etc. Parents are asked to not send their children to school if the child is experiencing signs or symptoms of a contagious illness. Children sent home from school should stay home until they are fever-free (without medication) or symptom-free for 24 hours.
