Kirk Fenton News
18th September 2020
Dear Parents / Carers,
This week has seen the children settle into a full week of curriculum work and it has been great to hear the hum of busy brains around the school. Routines, both Covid and non-Covid, are becoming established and school life is settling into a new pattern. On Fridays we have resumed our awards assembly, albeit still online and beamed into each class and throughout the week classes are involved in online collective worship, although we are still unable to sing together.
This weekend, we say goodbye to Reverend Simon who will be moving on to his new Parish as Vicar. There will be a special online service via Zoom on Sunday morning and it would be lovely to give him a super send off with as many children signing in as possible. Although he will no longer be working with the school, he will still be living locally for the time being so I'm sure he will keep in touch for a little while longer. Thank you Rev Simon, you have made the Bible come alive for so many of our pupils past and present and we will miss you.
Thank you also to the vast majority of parents who are now wearing their face coverings to come on site, we really do appreciate it. The government advice changes daily as the local situation evolves and from Monday, you will notice that our staff and all visitors to the site will be required to wear face coverings whilst in any communal area other than their own class bubbles. Like parents, this includes the school grounds, however within the classroom bubble staff may remove their masks.
Our school value for this term is 'Thankfulness' and we are very thankful that we can have the children back in school and are so well supported by our parents.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

A fond farewell
A message from Reverend Simon:
As you may have heard over the summer, I will be leaving Church Fenton and the Tadcaster Benefice on 21st September as I am going to be the Vicar of Holy Redeemer Acomb and Nether Poppleton with Upper Poppleton.
Church Fenton really has been a wonderful place for me and the family to live over the past 3 and a bit years. We are so grateful to everyone for the wonderful welcome that we received, for the love that has been shared with us, and for the way that we have felt a real part of the family. Whilst we always knew that our time here was for a limited time, we will be very sad to leave Church Fenton and St. Mary’s. I have also thoroughly enjoyed being part of Kirk Fenton Primary School and I will miss being part of life there. We will continue to live in Church Fenton until work has been completed on our new vicarage which will probably be around 8-10 months.
My farewell service will take place on Zoom on Sunday 20th September. Everyone is very welcome to come along – ID 986-101-2744 // Password 377646. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to gather together and do the normal farewells and parties etc.
If you need to contact church for any reason, please get in touch with Rachel Hughes, our Administrator, on 07545 516949.
