You are invited to the Maple Dale Elementary All Pro Dads breakfast on Wednesday March 11th from 8-9am in the school cafeteria. This free monthly breakfast is sponsored by fathers, the PTO, and local businesses.
Courage is the ability to face and overcome fears. It is an important attribute of your child’s character. Raising children to be courageous gives them the tools to conquer difficult challenges.
If attending please RSVP by noon on Monday March 9th via the link below so the correct amount of food is ordered.
Reminders- please do not walk your child to their classroom, please park down at the district offices to free parking spaces for staff members, and please be aware that a school delay or closure cancels the breakfast.
Please consider making a donation to support an upcoming meeting. Checks can be made out to “Maple Dale PTO” with “All Pro Dads” in the memo line and given to Greg or Doug.

Attention Fourth Grade Parents!
The end of the school year is quickly approaching and we are busy planning for the Fourth Grade Celebration Night at Maple Dale, scheduled for May 14th at 7pm! This is the night when we will honor our fourth graders for all of their hard work as they prepare to move on to the Greene School. On this evening the fourth grade class will perform their final musical at Maple Dale and will present the school with a parting class gift. We’ll also have the opportunity to thank and celebrate the staff and fourth grade teachers for all of their efforts in teaching our children. Mark your calendars now for this memorable evening! You don’t want to miss it!
You are also invited to contribute toward the class gift and student “send off“ gifts. You may send in any monetary donation amount to the office in an envelope marked “fourth grade celebration” by March 27th. If you choose to write a check please make it payable to “Sycamore Community Schools”.
THANK YOU for partnering with us to celebrate our students! We are looking forward to a very special evening!

Wellness Week at Maple Dale
Mark your calendars! Our Maple Dale students will be participating in Maple Dale's Wellness Week from March 23rd - March 27th (week after Spring Break)! Our activities include:
Monday March 23rd - "Yay for Veggies" We will be having a veggie forward menu in the cafeteria and parents are encouraged to pack vegetables for those who bring their lunch. Snapshots of each lunch table with their vegetables in hand will be taken. These pictures will be displayed in the cafeteria along with interesting facts about vegetables for the remainder of the week! Which table will have the most creative picture? Which table will have the funniest picture? Which table will have the most vegetables?
Tuesday March 24th - "Come Play with Us" We encourage parents to come, join, and play with their kids during recess! In case of inclement weather, parents can bring their favorite board game to play with the kids during inside recess. (More information to come in take home flyer that will list recess times for each grade.)
Wednesday March 25th - "Stay Calm and Meditate" Teachers will be leading their classrooms in a short guided meditation during morning meeting time. Students will discuss how they feel after the session.

In Case You Missed It...
Student Information for Classroom Placement for Current Kindergartners through 3rd Graders!
The placement of students each year is a task that our staff takes very seriously. Please click here to complete this optional form. This form is optional for parents. While considering your child’s learning characteristics and social interaction style, your child’s current teachers are carefully placing your child in a friendly, collaborative group with other children with whom he/she works well. If you would like your child to be placed with a specific peer, please complete the form below. Every effort will be made to place your child with one of the students listed below. Please list six names to ensure a classroom placement with a peer. If fewer than six names are provided, the likelihood of your child being placed with a peer listed is decreased.
Please complete by March 23, 2020.
Every Kid Outdoors
Did you know that you own millions of acres of national parks, historic structures, cultural artifacts, ancient forests, snow-capped mountains, and clear blue lakes? Our federal public lands and waters belong to all Americans and are waiting for you to explore them! You can get your Every Kid Outdoors pass at www.everykidoutdoors.gov, the official website where parents, educators, and kids can learn more.
To help engage and create our next generation of park visitors, supporters and advocates, Federal Land Management agencies, launched the Every Kid Outdoors initiative. The immediate goal is to provide an opportunity for each and every 4th grade student across the country to experience their federal public lands and waters in person throughout the school year.
Every year, beginning September 1, all kids in the fourth grade have access to their own Every Kid Outdoors pass at www.everykidoutdoors.gov. This pass provides free access to national parks across the country.
The Every Kid Outdoors pass is good for the 4th grade school year, until August 31. Information on obtaining the pass is available by visiting www.everykidoutdoors.gov.
