Principal's Update

Dear Anasazi Families,

On Tuesday, September 1, the SUSD Governing Board revisited the reopening plan for Scottsdale Unified School District and determined that in person learning will NOT begin the week of September 8th.

At this time students will continue learning through our Enhanced Distance Learning model while SUSD continues to use the Arizona Department of Health Services metrics in its decision to determine when schools are safe to reopen.

Please check your email for an SUSD survey seeking your feedback on the Return to Learn Plan. This survey is due Monday (sent by 484help@susd.org). SUSD also sent communications Thursday afternoon (sent by SUSD Communications).

The Governing Board will be holding a special meeting on Wednesday, September 9 at 5 p.m. to review the survey data and take the next steps on a return to in-person learning. For a copy of the meeting agenda, visit www.susd.org/Board. The meeting will be broadcast live and will also be available for replay on the District's official YouTube channel.

I will also hold a virtual Java with Jen after Wednesday’s Special Board meeting on Friday 9/11 at 9AM. (Link coming soon).

Again, Learning Remains Online the Week of 9/8 - 9/11.

Below I have included 3 videos that go over the survey, Return to Learn options, hybrid model option overview and frequent Q and A. As always, I will continue to share information as timely as I can via newsletters, emails, texts, and social media.

Serving your children,

Ms. Jennifer Waldron

SUSD K-2 Support Network

Scottsdale Parent Council has created a Facebook group specifically aimed at welcoming and supporting families of K-2 students. This is a place where parents of younger students can go with their questions and for advice from other parents, and also to get district information. It will be a moderated group with strict rules (comments that identify staff/students will not be allowed, no politics). Teachers are also welcome to join!

It can be found on Facebook under “SUSD K-2 Support Network”.

September IB Learner Attribute - PRINCIPLED

Big picture

IB in Action from Home

This month's IB Learner attribute focus is PRINCIPLED. At home involve your child in deciding on the rules for a game or activity and then ensure that they stick to the ones that have been decided upon.

  • Encourage your child to play games that involve teams.
  • Discuss with your child the qualities of a team player.
  • What sort of person would they want on their team?
  • When your child wins a game insist that he or she is a well- mannered winner. They might thank their opponent or shake hands with them if it’s appropriate. •
  • When playing a game, don’t change the rules to let your child win. Being a gracious loser is just as important as being a good winner

IT Help Desk
