StoryArk Matters
Because of you...this
In gratitude and with much appreciation
I can't believe all that has happened and how quickly!
Your support has had a huge impact. Thank you!
In the last two years, we've grown from offering three classes to hosting a two week summer creative writing intensive, establishing a youth literary magazine, producing two sci-fi audio podcasts, creating a webisode series and hosting a weekly radio program.
We have received gifts from you along with multiple grants from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, the St. Croix Valley Foundation and the local Rotary club. We are also grateful for the sponsorship of Kowalskis, Home to Sweet Home, Oak Meadows Senior Living, Bread Art, Hannah's Homemade Heavens Bakery, Huntington Learning, Water Street Inn, Valley Bookseller, and First State Bank and Trust. When combined with your gracious donation, wonderful and amazing things are happening as we nurture and develop youth creativity.
Thanks to you, students not only produce original work, but along the way, become a part of an artistic team, learn to collaborate with each other and develop their leadership skills.
We are grateful that you have stepped along side of us on this great storytelling adventure, and we hope you enjoy just a taste of what has been established because of you.
StoryArk's Cultural Projects
a radio show/podcast that celebrates the creative spirit and nurtures the art of storytelling
Nine episodes later, students now working on Season 2
#HUSHpodcast, otherwise known as HUSH, is a sci-fi series written, performed and produced by students in grades eight through twelve. Students write the script, compose the music, create the sound effects, act the roles, record the audio and edit each episode. It takes an eclectic team of creatives to produce the show which is first broadcast on the radio program Voices in the Valley before being uploaded onto iTunes, Google Play Music and Stitcher. (The podcast has been downloaded over 9500 times since its release in 2017!) Our goal with HUSH is to provide as professional an experience as possible to students. In addition to developing writing skills, students learn about industry standards and how to work on a creative team.

Swapping stories. Sharing life. Strengthening the threads that interconnect our community. These are the values that Voices in the Valley draws upon each Saturday when it airs at 10 AM on KLBB 1220. Every week local area students join hosts Steph and De on the radio to celebrate the creative spirit, nurture the art of storytelling, and provide a forum for a diversity of voices to be heard. Guests have included New York Times Best Selling and award winning authors, LA screenwriters and composers, entrepreneurs, war heroes and students seeking to save the mussels. Learn more about Voices in the Valley by checking out voicesinthevalley.us and clicking HERE for our digital flyer. Subscribe to the show on iTunes, Google Play Music, and Stitcher.
