Academic Awards Night was supposed to be held on November 5, we have had to postpone this wonderful night. We are working on a safe way to celebrate all of our Academic Award Winners, please watch for further updates.
If you are planning on taking an AP Test, you need to sign up by November 6, 2020. The cost of each test is $95.00 and the money is due at the same time. This is considerable lower than college tuition. If you do well on the test you could earn up to 3 college credits. For most colleges, 3 credits would cost anywhere from $500-$800.
College Classes and Technical Certificates are available through our Jackson County Early College Program. If you are interested in starting your two year college degree early or are looking for a technical certificate I can help get you started. Sophomores and Freshman can get signed up any time. Stop in and see me about applying for this program

October is Anti-bullying Month
This month the 6th grade classes are getting a guidance lesson on tolerance, creating a positive culture, and thinking about what kind of legacy they want to leave behind at CUES, both individually and as the class of 2027! They have been a fantastic audience, participating and taking the lesson seriously! We also wore orange on 10/21/20 to represent unity in having tolerance for all people and fighting bullying! This would be a great topic starter with your child, discussing how they can help make a difference in our school and create a culture of acceptance and kindness. I will work with grades third through fifth on this topic as well throughout October and November.
Monthly Mindfulness Tip:
Belly Breathing: Lie somewhere comfortable. Rest your hands gently on your belly. Take a deep breath in (about 5 seconds) and feel your belly expand and fill up under your hands. Breath out slowly (again, about 5 seconds) and feel your belly deflate like a balloon. Do this exercise several times, concentrating on your breathing and the rise and fall of your belly. This is awesome for both children and adults. It would be a wonderful activity to do together! :)

Monthly Family Wellness - Practice Gratitude together
Everyday is a day to be grateful. The month of November is a great time to explore as a family how to show gratitude.
Here are some conversation starters to use when discussing gratitude:
What is your favorite part about your home? Why?
What is something special about who you are grateful for?
What is one of your favorite things to do? Why are you grateful for it?
What is something about your teacher that you are grateful for?
Who did something nice for you today? What was it?
What is something you love doing with your parents?
Friday, November 13th is World Kindness Day!
