My Lai Massacre

What was it?
The My Lai Massacre happened on March 16, 1968 in a small village in South Vietnam. US troops murdered between 300-500 unarmed civilians, including women and children. Some of the women were even raped by the US soldiers. When the general public found out what we did, more opposed the Vietnam War.
Reaction
I think the My Lai Massacre reflects negatively on the US, because the people who were murdered were unarmed, so they couldn't possibly defend themselves against loaded guns. It seemed even worse that children were killed because they must have been innocent; I couldn't imagine being a parent watching my child being shot and killed for no good reason.
