We are sorry for the delay with the newsletter delivery this week but due to the holiday and jury duty, this was the earliest we could get it out. We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoyed a great long weekend with your families!

Director's Corner

a message from Lisa Alonso

This week I am including an article for our families about how to help children develop self independent skills. Teaching our little ones self-help skills is extremely important throughout the early years. Our preschool reinforces teaching self-help skills as a part of our kindergarten readiness preparation. Hope you find this week's article helpful.

Pizza Party!

Dear Crown Families,

Thank you for completing your student’s Federal Survey card for Crown Preschool this school year. Because all our families returned these cards in a timely manner, our preschool classrooms are having a pizza party on Tuesday November 12, 2019. School lunches will still be served this day and students who bring lunches should pack a lunch. Each student will be served 1 slice of pizza. Thank you again for helping us reach our goal and returning your card!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Crown Parent Teacher conferences will be held next week November 19 through November 21. Mrs. Eileen will conduct conferences all day Tuesday 11/19 and the afternoon of Wednesday 11/20. Mrs. Zulya's conferences will be the morning of Wednesday 11/19 and all day Thursday 11/21. Each conference is 15 minutes and will be spent reviewing your child's developmental progress and the information scored on their ASQ. The ASQ is a developmental survey completed by parents to provide helpful information about each child for the teachers to learn from and integrate into their lesson planning.

If you are unable to attend a conference during the scheduled days and times, or are unable to select the day or time you need, the teachers will make arrangements to hold a conference at a later time after the Thanksgiving break. The sign up sheets for the conferences will be available in each teacher's classroom. If you are unable to come in sometime this week to sign up, please email or call your child's teacher. (Best times to call are 8-8:15 am; 11:30 am - 12 pm; 3:15-3:30 pm.)

Ms. Eileen; (619) 522- 8923 Ext. 6093

Ms. Zulya; (619) 522- 8923 Ext. 6092

Please note: If you child has not been in school for longer than 60 days, you will not be eligible for a conference at this time. Your child's teacher will arrange for a conference once 60 days has passed. Also, please know if your child attends less than 5 days per week, they will have limited developmental data based on their days of attendance.

Illness at Preschool

It's the time of year our preschoolers may become sick with a cold and or flu. Please keep your child home when they are contagious with an illness such as fever, vomit, or diarrhea for a period of 24-hours symptom free.

Families can also help reduce the spread of germs by reinforcing at home our preschool hand washing steps. The 6 steps are:

  1. Get hands wet
  2. Get soap
  3. Lather hands for 20 seconds
  4. Rinse all soap off
  5. Dry hands
  6. Turn the faucet off with a paper towel

Use this link to view a sign that teaches these steps.

Dear Parents,

We’re so excited to share that Crown Preschool will be holding an Usborne Books & More Book Fair at our school the week of November 18-22!

  • Usborne Books & More has over 2,000 interactive and educational children’s books for babies through high school. This is the perfect time to stock up on books to support your student’s current learning, for fun, and gifts for the holidays. Usborne books are truly the highest quality we’ve seen! They have humor, color, stunning illustrations, simple text for younger children, and a wealth of information on all subjects.

Crown Preschool will receive a 50% match on the profits from the book sales, which will enable us to receive FREE books for your child’s classroom!

  • During the book fair week, some of the award winning books and catalogs will be on display in your child’s classroom. Please visit the display to view the books, browse the catalog, drop off your order form and check out how you can help fulfill the wish-lists your child’s teacher would LOVE for their classroom!
  • You can purchase books using the order forms we will send home the week before the book fair or online at our “e-fair” link by clinking on the Book Fair picture above.

ALL orders – whether placed online or via paper order form - will count toward the school’s free books!

  • You may choose FREE shipping to have your books shipped to the school or pay shipping to have them sent directly to your home If you elect to pick up your books, they will be available for pick up here at school the week of December 9, 2019.

I hope you will help support our school in this way while also providing your children with some wonderful new reading material!
