Director's Corner
a message from Lisa Alonso
This week I am including an article for our families about how to help children develop self independent skills. Teaching our little ones self-help skills is extremely important throughout the early years. Our preschool reinforces teaching self-help skills as a part of our kindergarten readiness preparation. Hope you find this week's article helpful.

Pizza Party!
Dear Crown Families,
Thank you for completing your student’s Federal Survey card for Crown Preschool this school year. Because all our families returned these cards in a timely manner, our preschool classrooms are having a pizza party on Tuesday November 12, 2019. School lunches will still be served this day and students who bring lunches should pack a lunch. Each student will be served 1 slice of pizza. Thank you again for helping us reach our goal and returning your card!

Parent Teacher Conferences
Crown Parent Teacher conferences will be held next week November 19 through November 21. Mrs. Eileen will conduct conferences all day Tuesday 11/19 and the afternoon of Wednesday 11/20. Mrs. Zulya's conferences will be the morning of Wednesday 11/19 and all day Thursday 11/21. Each conference is 15 minutes and will be spent reviewing your child's developmental progress and the information scored on their ASQ. The ASQ is a developmental survey completed by parents to provide helpful information about each child for the teachers to learn from and integrate into their lesson planning.
If you are unable to attend a conference during the scheduled days and times, or are unable to select the day or time you need, the teachers will make arrangements to hold a conference at a later time after the Thanksgiving break. The sign up sheets for the conferences will be available in each teacher's classroom. If you are unable to come in sometime this week to sign up, please email or call your child's teacher. (Best times to call are 8-8:15 am; 11:30 am - 12 pm; 3:15-3:30 pm.)
Ms. Eileen; eileen.rodriguez@coronadousd.net (619) 522- 8923 Ext. 6093
Ms. Zulya; zulya.nunez@coroandousd.net (619) 522- 8923 Ext. 6092
Please note: If you child has not been in school for longer than 60 days, you will not be eligible for a conference at this time. Your child's teacher will arrange for a conference once 60 days has passed. Also, please know if your child attends less than 5 days per week, they will have limited developmental data based on their days of attendance.
Illness at Preschool
It's the time of year our preschoolers may become sick with a cold and or flu. Please keep your child home when they are contagious with an illness such as fever, vomit, or diarrhea for a period of 24-hours symptom free.
Families can also help reduce the spread of germs by reinforcing at home our preschool hand washing steps. The 6 steps are:
- Get hands wet
- Get soap
- Lather hands for 20 seconds
- Rinse all soap off
- Dry hands
- Turn the faucet off with a paper towel
Use this link to view a sign that teaches these steps.
