Take Advantage of the Technology at your Campus
Times have changed greatly over the past twenty years. You can hear someone referring to using Google to verify a fact or to get an answer to a question on a regular basis. If you do not know how to do a task, you can search on YouTube and there are numerous videos explaining how to complete the task step by step.
Technology has put information at our students' fingertips, and students love to use it.
We have a lot of technology throughout the district, we need to use the devices to help prepare our students for the future. Every campus in our district has at least one iPad cart and at least two computer labs. The number of technology devices available on campuses keeps increasing every year.
"We are preparing students for jobs that do not even exist yet, using technologies that have not be invented," (Fisch, 2008).
Below is a Did You Know? video which gives some eye opening facts about knowledge and technology growth happening over the next couple of decades. Please remember if you are trying to view the video within the district, YouTube does not become available until after 5:00 PM.
The website has several tutorial videos to walk you through using Prodigy for the first time, setting up your account, adding users, how to differentiate assignments for students, and how to use the report features. The tutorial videos are YouTube base which means they are not accessible until after 5:00 PM within Alice ISD.
When students first sign-on, they get to design their wizard. While designing their wizard, they get to choose a character name to help keep the student's identity confidential while playing the game on-line. The game will then start running the students through a tutorial explaining how to play the game, at the same time asking them diagnostic questions to determine what level to put the student at.
