Reignier Catholic School Newsletter

27th September 2021 - Issue # 14

WELCOME

We warmly welcome the following students Reignier: Xander Mitchell (Room 5) and Heidi Turner (Room 5).

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Kia ora koutou katoa,

It is hard to believe that this is the final week of the term. I could almost guarantee that on the 26th July, none of us would have predicted the type of term we have been through and the challenges that we have faced as a community. On behalf of the staff, thank you for your support and understanding. We know that being in Alert Level 2 for as long as we have has not been ideal, but a small sacrifice now, hopefully will make a big difference in the long run.

Our young people face challenges every day helping to build their resilience, confidence, self-esteem and increase their independence as well as their curriculum knowledge. Over the term, it has been amazing to watch and see their smiles as they navigate through this journey each day. I acknowledge as a parent, sometimes it can be tough to watch our tamariki work through these experiences as so often we want to solve things for them. This can be hard and a challenge for us, but congratulations on the work that you have all done at home. As a staff we can see the conversations that have been taking place at home to help, support and guide our young people, and this is a reflection on the fantastic job that you are doing at home. We thank you for all that you are doing as you are your child/ren’s first teachers.

Term 3 has brought many highlights for myself, with the most recent being our Wheels Day last Friday. This day was an initiative from two of our students who approached me earlier in the term. It was incredibly rewarding to work alongside these two young gentlemen, who wanted to do something for the students at school. I thank them as it was a fantastic day, with lots of laughter and heaps of smiles. I look forward to seeing what new initiatives our students come up with next.

I wish you a blessed holiday period with your family. May you be safe and hopefully we will be able to see you all in person next term.
