ROSA PARKS (MOTHER OF CIVIL RIGHTS)
Rosa Parks was a civilly disobedient woman by refusing to give up her seat on a bus. She believed that the government shouldn't be able to tell her where to sit on a bus. According to Henry David Thoreau, "that government is best which governs not at all." Thoreau also says, "as for adopting the ways which the State has provided for remedying the evil, I know not of such ways." Rosa Parks believed that the State shouldn't be able to force unjust laws and policies upon citizens.
