The Falcon Flyer

Weekly News and Updates - Volume 2 Issue 28 - 3/25/22

Spring Is Here!

Welcome to Spring Break 2022, Falcons! When we come back the final 10 week countdown will begin. There are a ton of exciting experiences on the horizon. On May 4th, our mural team will begin the painting on the library façade. ArtReach even offered to repaint the concrete in the outdoor reading space underneath the trees right outside the library for free! The official ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony will take place the next week on the 11th. Time TBD.

We also have a very important staff meeting scheduled the first week back. In this meeting, our team will start planning the Spring Open House event. New health and safety guidance allows us to hold this event with families and students on campus! Stay tuned for an official time and date to be announced in April 8th's Falcon Flyer.

Our students will be recognized for their philanthropic efforts with the Kids Heart Challenge during an all-school assembly on April 20th. We completely obliterated our fundraising goal. The top fundraisers will get to make Mr. Friedenberg into an ice cream sundae. Ms. Massion and Mrs. Sperry's classes get to enjoy a dance party at lunch that day too for being the top two classes.

Thank you all for a wonderful year so far, and the best is yet to come.

“More than anything,

be consistent.

Go at it. Go at it. Go at it."

Indoor Mask Guidance Update

As you may have heard, SDUSD will no longer be requiring students or staff to wear masks indoors starting on April 4th. Students and staff are still allowed to wear masks wherever and whenever they feel necessary. This updated guidance is the result of collaborating with top pediatric experts and epidemiologists at UCSD. San Diego County has recently been placed in one of the lowest COVID exposure risk categories. With the current downtrend in cases and hospitalizations, the expectation is that we will be in a much better place after Spring Break. Prior to break, your student will be provided with at-home rapid antigen tests and recommendations for when to take the test prior to returning to school. Stay tuned for more details.

Running Club Totals

As of Wednesday of this week, our Falcons have run a combined total of 2,972 miles! Thats the distance of driving from San Diego to Boston. It's a total of 13,386 laps around the track. So far the 4th grade class is in the lead with 845 miles, followed by 2nd grade with 605. Incredible!

Best Wishes Mr. & Mrs. Quaal

This past weekend, our very own, Ms. Monge tied the knot with the love of her life, Eric. We at Fletcher wish the two of them all the best and a lifetime of health and happiness. Their honeymoon plans include relaxing and celebrating on the island of Maui over spring break.
