Welcome Calli Rey Fletcher to the Titan Family
Carissa gave birth to her baby girl on Tuesday morning at 12:08 am. She was 6 pounds 7 ounces and 19 inches long. She came a bit early and Carissa made it through the entire day at school even with contractions. By the time she went to the hospital at 10:00 pm her beautiful daughter arrived only 2 hours later. Way to go Carissa...you are AWESOME!
Congratulations to Zach and Carissa!!
Coach Champion turns 80!
On April 2, 2019, former teacher and coach, Bob Champion celebrated his 80th birthday. Coach Champion has recently relocated to Sunrise at Sabre Springs #319. He really enjoys the visits from former students and friends. He can be reached at 858-391-8582.
No Place for Hate
On Monday, when we arrived at school the new crews had already arrived at the high school. It was so difficult to process the horrible situation that occured over the weekend in our quaint, beautiful, and what we had always thought to be safe Poway. Everyone rallied together and stood together to support one another and the students on our campus.
Vigil at PHS
On Monday night, nearly 4000 people came to Poway High School for a vigil in support of Chabad of Poway. It was a very powerful and emotional gathering. There were many religious leaders as well as community leaders present who spoke to those in attendance. There were staff, students and community members present from near and far to stand up against hate and support one another through what we had thought could never happen here. The evening ended with everyone singing "This Land is Your Land". It was a very moving experience.
With less than 24 hours notice our PHS team was able to successfully organize and coordinate the event that evening.
Great job Titans!! #Poway Strong

NPFH Activity
On Tuesday, even with the rain students came out to participate in ASB's "See Me" activity to learn about the pyramid of hate. Students also signed up for PROMPOSAL POSTERS, and signed up for the Walk against Hate. Other students attended a presentation on climate change in K-1 and an impromptu dance party with friends! We have such a wonderful group of students showing their POWAY LOVE. #NPFH
Each day this week there was a different activity and/or speaker in K-1 to educate students on the importance of acceptance of others.
College Signing Day
On May 1, PHS AVID hosted a College Signing Day event in K-1 during period 2. One of our AVID junior classes joined our AVID senior class to celebrate the seniors' committing to attend their chosen universities. PHS parent Mr. Stan Kim presented AVID senior Rebecca Pineda Nicolas with the Eugene C. Kim Memorial Scholarship, and she read a short excerpt from her essay. PUSD Board Member Ginger Couvrette and AVID administrator Brianne Froumis shared some inspiring words with the students. Seniors presented Lynne Oakes with a flower and thank you card for all her support in helping them apply for scholarships. Our combined juniors and seniors did a "toast for success" (with Ginger Ale) to encourage each other on their upcoming college applications or their transition to college. We took pictures of seniors in their college shirts. Harry Katcher, who does PR for PUSD, was also there to take pictures, so it may be on PUSD social media.
Eye on Art
On Thursday evening Poway High students showcased their work from Digital Media Film, 3-D Animation, Floral Design, Photography, Architectural Design, Engineering Design, Sound Production, Drawing and Painting and Ceramics. Hopefully you were able to stop by to see the beautiful work of our talented students and enjoy some food and live jazz.
