No Friday Folders This Week!

This Coming Week

Spirit Week - The kids are bringing home a green flyer in their take home folders that lists the days for the coming spirit week. Tuesday is "Dress Your Winter Best" day. I would suggest adjusting that since we'll be painting during our ornament workshop!

Ornament Workshop - On Tuesday we'll be crafting! I will be in touch with the parents who will be joining us.

Friday - On Friday, our team will be watching the Jim Carey version of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." On Monday, you'll receive a permission slip for your child to watch the movie. We'll also enjoy the treats that you have graciously volunteered to send in. Thank you again for the support.

Science

The snail pull took place a couple of weeks ago! We found the mass of the snail to be 3 grams and that snail could pull 50 grams! In case you didn't know....snails are super strong! Don't worry, the snail was never in danger or hurt in any way. When the load becomes too heavy, the snail just stops moving.

ELA

Read Aloud - We started The Best Christmas Pageant Ever today. The kids were pretty surprised by the Herdman's behavior!

Picture Book Friday - Dakota read Santa's Secrets Revealed to us today. The kids were able to easily decide on the genre and the theme of the story. Desmond is going to read next week!

Big picture

Writers for Real - TIME SENSITIVE

Mrs. Coleates offers this opportunity to 4th grade students only! I handed some applications out to interested kids in the beginning of this week. Check out the link below. All Applications are due Monday, December 16th!

Math

Mrs. Close's Class ~ I was really hoping to finish Unit 4 before break. That is definitely not going to happen. The kids have taken both the December CML and Mo competitions. We'll review those this coming week and they will come home in Friday Folders next week. During the coming week, the kids will be busy converting kilograms to grams, solving word problems that involve money, and using the partial-products strategy to multiply 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.
