Winter is coming! Just a friendly reminder that the best way to keep from getting or spreading infections is to wash hands often and avoid drinking from the same glass or eating from the same plate as a sick person.
We are seeing some cases of strep throat among students and families. If you think your child’s symptoms may be strep, please see your provider for a test. Here are a few important points:
Strep throat is an infection caused by a type of bacteria (group A streptococcus).
Strep throat is more common in children than adults.
Only a rapid strep test or throat culture can determine if group A strep is the cause.
Strep throat usually needs treatment with antibiotics.
If your doctor prescribes antibiotics, it is important to finish the whole course of medication. Do not stop taking the medicine early if the child feels better.
Schools Facility Master Plan Community Meeting
Please mark your calendars and save the date for the Dedham Public Schools Facility Master Plan Community Meeting on Monday, December 9 at 7:00 PM at the new Curran Early Childhood Education Center, 1100 High Street. If you have not yet seen the beautiful new ECEC, come early at 6:30 PM to take a tour of Dedham's newest facility dedicated to our youngest learners.
This community meeting will bring together parents, educators, elected officials, and our project team from SMMA to continue the discussion of next steps in the improvement of elementary facilities in Dedham. The format of this meeting will provide for significant small group discussion and input to help inform our vision for the district for many years to come.
