May 2022
A Message from the Director
I can't believe the school year is about to come to a close! We have been much busier this year, and we hope to continue to have opportunities to work with your schools!
We are very excited about our summer scheduling, and this newsletter highlights our offerings. We always hope teachers will take advantage of the opportunities and model being life-long learners for their students. While this may have been a challenging school year, reconnecting with other educators at one of our sessions may be an opportunity to refresh and re-energize.
As we move forward throughout 2022, please feel free to reach out to the East Alabama Regional Inservice Center. We always welcome feedback of how we can better serve your needs. Please click here to request district support.
Please review our social media pages on Facebook (https://bit.ly/AUEARIC) and Twitter (@AUEARIC)for ongoing announcements. Our website is: http://www.education.auburn.edu/earic . You can also find our learning opportunities listed on our calendar on our website. Our office will be working to update all of our communication outlets regularly.
Have a great month!
Best regards,
Laura Crowe

Math Teacher Mentors and Math Summer Courses
A MESSAGE FROM DR. ALFRED PARHAM, PROGRAM COORDINATOR, EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION
Dear Aspiring School Leader,
We have been discussing with our school partners how the shortage of teachers resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors related to our rigorous profession have reached a critical level in Alabama. There is also growing concern of a shortage of school and central office administrators related to the factors causing the shortage of teachers. This email serves to share with you how much we care about you as an aspiring leader while participating in an educational leadership preparation program. For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, our Educational Leadership Program for the master’s degree as well as our reduced-hour option for those who have already earned a master’s degree are delivered with your personal and professional care in mind by:
Ø Conducting classes online with Zoom sessions to simulate face-to-face learning, eliminating the requirement to travel campus, and allowing classes to be taken from home or work.
Ø For our master's program we utilize a cohort model that starts each Summer semester (2022) and graduates the following Summer (2023). Starting the cohort in the Summer allows teachers time to better onboard into our program during their Summer break/non-contract time.
Ø For our reduced-hour certificate, we accept applications on a rolling basis every semester.
Ø Offering most classes on weekends (typically three weekends per semester). Any classes
occurring during the week will be evening classes to accommodate your needs as an educator.
Ø Using Zoom allows you to attend class from the comforts of your home or office. This is
especially beneficial if you have family matters (day care/single parent), if you coach athletics, or if you supervise extra-curricular activities after regular school hours during the work week.
Ø Maintaining expert faculty with teaching and/or administrative experience to include building level and central office experience. Please click here (https://auburn.edu/academic/education/ed/collegedirectory/index.php?progcode=aes ) to
view our faculty.
Ø Continually collaborating with the Auburn College of Education Clinical Experience Committee,
the East Alabama Regional In-Service Center, and the Truman Pierce Institute.
Ø Most importantly, we have reduced the tuition for our master's degree and reduced-hour
option certificate from $630 a credit hour to $450 a credit hour!
Ø The following link will take you to our webpage for the master's degree or reduced-hour
certificate.
