A Message from Mrs. Caudill
It is hard to believe that May is half way over already. I can't believe Memorial Day is just around the corner. Time seems to have no concept these days. Some days feel like weeks and some weeks feel like hours. There is one thing I know for certain - We only have three and a half weeks of school left. Can you believe it!?
I know these last few weeks are going to be tough for our learners as the draw of outside and warm weather starts. This is especially true for our students that have their Zoom sessions in the afternoon. Thank you for your continued support as you ensure your students continue to engage in learning.
Stay Well. Stay Safe. Stay Hopefull.

Coming Soon: BOB Day!!
As most of you know, one of our favorite end-of-the-year traditions is Field Day. This year, with the extended school closure, we’ve decided to host “BOB Day”, an at-home, virtual Field Day! On Friday, May 29th, we are inviting families to participate in the Bobcat Olympic Bash (BOB) and have some fun with different games and challenges at home!
The Google Slides below include a description of the 12 different games and, as you’ll see, most activities include items you already have lying around your house. Choose to complete a few of the activities, a lot, all, or none! Please do whatever is best for your family.
Additionally, there will be a basket of balloons placed near Amerman’s front door on Monday, May 25th. So, if you plan on participating in BOB Day, we encourage you to decorate your mailbox with a few balloons! Finally, prior to BOB Day, your child’s classroom teacher will share a Padlet so you can post photos and videos of BOB Day in action!
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Pinkelman at pinkelca@northvilleschools.org.
We hope to have you join in on the BOB Day fun!

Look for the Good Week!
Two months into our ‘new’ reality and we are all looking for ways to stay connected and to stay positive. Last week Silver Springs Elementary had a Look for the Good Project. The challenges come from lookforthegoodproject.org They are a non-profit that helps schools and communities to promote kindness and positivity. (Something we could all use a little bit of right now.) The site also offers suggestions about mindfulness and activities you can do as a family or just on your own. Amerman student leaders thought this would be a great idea for our Amerman Community.
Here is a checklist and a link to helper documents including challenge details that you could use this week to look for the good and spread kindness wherever you are. Maybe just start with 3 challenges. Looking for the Good is something we can do all the time and not just in one week.

We’d love to see how you and your child/children Look for the Good this week.

Dragon Rider, by Cornelia Funke
This week Mrs. Caudill started reading a new book. The book is Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke. Ms. Funke has written several books our upper elementary students may be familiar with including Inkheart and The Thief Lord. The book appeals to all ages, from early elementary to adult. It is a story about friendship, adventure and the true meaning of home.
The story is about Firedrake, Ben and their furry friend, Sorrel, who are in search of the mythical place where dragons can live in peace forever. Along the way, they discover allies in odd places, courage they didn't know they had, and a hidden destiny that changes everything.

May's Focus: Integrity! Habit 8: Find your Voice!
Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of April is Integrity and our Habit of the Month is Habit 8: Find Your Voice. Just because we are not at school doesn't mean we can't practice our Leader in Me Habits and our theme of the month.
Find your voice means finding something that you are good at and like doing. You are proud, but do not boast. Instead, you use your expertise to help and inspire others.
