INCLEMENT WEATHER DELAYS
Since we were fortunate not to have any school delays during the 2016-17 school year, we wanted to remind our families that all delays are now 2 hour delays.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF OPTIONAL TESTING FOR
IDENTIFICATION OF GIFTED STUDENTS
You may request that your child be tested on the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT). If you wish to have your child participate in this round of testing, all requests must be made through the below online link by December 6th. If you have a child in 2nd and/or 4th grade, they will take the test during school with their class. For other grade levels, we are offering an optional testing opportunity. In order to decrease disruption to your child's instruction, this testing opportunity will take place on Saturday, December 9, at Maple Dale from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm for all four elementary buildings.
Please note it is the parents' responsibility to provide transportation to and from Maple Dale on morning of testing. Also please note Sycamore cannot use kindergarten or first grade scores for gifted placement.
---------------------
TRANSPORTATION POLICY
It has been a long standing transportation policy that requests for students to ride a different bus for social reasons cannot be honored. This is in our School Handbook on page 31 which can be found on our school's website.
If a request is made for a bus change due to daycare reasons, we will honor it if it is for a bus that is not already at capacity. We currently have buses with no extra space and a possibility of others as new students enroll throughout the school year, so before making a bus change request it would be best to contact the school or transportation to see if it is a possibility.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE
Montgomery's annual canned food drive runs November 1st through November 15. These cans provide needed food for families in our area during the holidays. Let’s all help take care of others by providing food to families who need our support. Please bring in Thanksgiving nonperishable foods starting November 1st. Other food items always needed are corn, green beans, peas, baked beans, fruit, soup, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, ravioli, beef stew, chili, and cereal. Please contact Nurse Linton with questions at lintons@sycamoreschools.org.
CARNIVAL
The Super Carnival Committee is looking for a few more parents to help out in the planning stages with Games, Silent Auction, and other areas. Please contact Betsy Rinehart at betsyrinehart@cinci.rr.com or Kristy Felss at kfelss@cinci.rr.com if you have any interest and to learn more about these roles. It’s a SUPER way to make an impact at Montgomery Elementary.
The Super Carnival Committee is also looking for nut-free candy donations to help make our Carnival better than ever! Please consider donating your leftover Halloween candy, or take advantage of the post-Halloween candy blowout sales! Your nut-free candy donations can be placed in the box located near the PTO mailboxes in the main office.

Did you Know?!? The neuroscience of singing shows that when we sing our neurotransmitters connect in new and different ways. It fires up the right temporal lobe of our brain, releasing endorphins that make us smarter, healthier, happier and more creative. When we sing with other people this effect is amplified. -Imperfect Harmony: Finding Happiness Singing with Others.
