Forms needed for a 1040EZ

In order to fill out a 1040EZ you will need the following forms: 1040EZ form, W2 form, E-file, and tax return sheet.

How to fill out a 1040EZ (Steps)

Step 1: Write your wages, salaries, and tips in box one. They will be on your W2 form.

Step 2: Write your taxable interest in box 2. It will be in your W2 form.

Step 3: Write your unemployment compensation in box 3. (For our situation, it will be zero)

Step 4: Add boxes 1, 2, and 3. Write that number in box 4.

Step 5: Flip to the back of the paper and determine your amount. Put that number in box 5. (in this situation, he is single claimed by his parents.)

Step 6: Subtract box 5 from box 4. Place that number in box 6.

Step 7: Write your federal income tax withheld in box 7. Info located in W2 form.

Step 8: Write your earned income credit in box 8a. (For our situation, it will be zero.)

Step 9: Add boxes 7 and 8a. Place this number in box 9.

Step 10: Find the number in box 6 on your tax table. Fill in the corresponding number in box 10.

Step 11: Write the cost for health care in box 11.

Step 12: Add boxes 10 and 11.

Step 13: Check if box 9 is larger than box 12. If it is, subtract box 12 from box 9. Place that number in box 13A.

Step 14: Check if box 12 is larger than box 9. If it is, subtract box 12 from box 9. Place that number in box 14.

1040EZ Due Date

The due date for the 1040EZ is April 15th.
