Mr. Suminski's Message
Lincoln Families,
If you are ever wondering if we are bored . . . the answer is a resounding NO! Middle school is a time for students to consider new friends and new activities, and we hope our students will consider taking advantage of at least a few of the opportunities available at Lincoln throughout the school year. Here are just a few things "on our plate" right now:
Good Luck Robotics - competing at State this weekend!
Dynamite Night - JANUARY 24th - Thank you PTO for organizing this favorite event! Please take a moment to read below - Dynamite Night takes plenty of volunteers to host the fun - please consider volunteering if you can!
Winter Dance - JANUARY 31st - Student Council hosts the winter dance and this year has opened up the event to all grades. Tickets are limited -we hope to see you there!
Volleyball and Wrestling are on the courts and on the mats - come on out and cheer for the Lincoln Lions.
Lincoln Dance Team just wrapped up a great season and did a great job at competition!
Spring Musical - Call backs are posted in the music wing!
Science Chicks and Early Bird Fitness Clubs have just begun - check to see if you can still join!
Last but not least . . . these clubs are in full swing . . . think about joining next year: Yearbook, Fitness, Creative Writing, Minecraft, Computer Science, Peer Partners and Amazing Amigos!
We have NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 20, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Enjoy the three day weekend!

“Be a bush if you can't be a tree. If you can't be a highway, just be a trail. If you can't be a sun, be a star. For it isn't by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are.”

MRS. SMITH, RN
It’s currently flu season and I want to review the symptoms and guidelines for the flu. The symptoms can include cough, sore throat, headache and fever. Flu symptoms can be troublesome for persons with asthma or other chronic health concerns. In order to keep our school environment as healthy as possible as we experience another flu season, please keep your student home if they are not well. If your student exhibits symptoms mentioned above, the Cook County Department of Public Health recommends you seek medical attention if you have concerns.
CCDPH recommends the following measures to prevent the spread of respiratory illness:
1) Individuals with flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, headache) should remain home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever without the use of fever-reducing medication.
2) Speak with your health-care provider regarding influenza vaccination.
3) Wash hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. If water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizing gel.
4) Cover your nose and mouth with tissue when coughing or sneezing. Tissue should be thrown away
immediately after use.
5) Cough or sneeze into your sleeve if tissue is not available.

THE OFFICE LADIES . . .
Question: Can you tell me why the office seems unable to help me when I call back my Caller ID for Lincoln?
Answer: We like to review this with parents several times, since it may seem that we are not helpful. However, ALL phones in the building register only the main office line on your Caller ID. We respectfully ask parents to listen to messages before simply calling back. School personnel, if at all possible, will leave a message for you. We ask students who use school phones to also leave a message, as we have numerous students placing calls home from the office. Unfortunately, the office can not determine which phone in the building was used to place a call to you. Please take a moment to see if a message was left for you. Thank you for your understanding.
