What We Are Learning This Week

English/ Language Arts

In skills block, students will spell correctly using short e and use appropriate capitalization in their compositions.

In writing, students will write about varied topics while learning about author's purpose. Students will also participate in teacher-led writing conferences.

In reading, students will make connections to text to become better readers.


This week students will spell words in the -ot and -op family such as pot, hot, lot, top, and stop. The following sight words will also be included: for, on, are, as

*Spelling test is on Friday.


In math, students will order and compare numbers to 19 and match ordinal numbers to a position.


In science, students will predict and identify changes in materials caused by heating and cooling such as ice melting, water freezing, and water evaporation.

Social Studies

In social studies, students will identify and describe the roles of public officials and characteristics of good citizens.
