Room 26 Weekly News
February 12-15, 2018
Announcements
Valentine's Day is this Wednesday. Hopefully you all received my email over the weekend with details about our Valentine Exchange. It is optional, but I know a lot of kids enjoy exchanging cards at school, so I like to set time aside that day for this fun activity. If your child does bring in valentines, I ask that he/she brings one for everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. Cards can be homemade! We have 33 students (18 girls, 15 boys).
As a reminder, we have a 4-day weekend coming up! There is no school this Friday, February 16 or next Monday, February 19 in honor of President's Day.
If you happen to be out and about running errands, there are a few items we're running short on in the classroom. We need baby wipes and hand sanitizer because we do not have a sink in the classroom. If any of you are willing to donate some, I'd appreciate it!

Science
We will resume science next week when we will explore ecosystems. We will focus on an owl's ecosystem and will be doing our owl pellet dissections over the next several weeks.
Science Fair project packets were sent home last week. Your child's 3 topic ideas are due to me by this Thursday, along with the signed green form acknowledging that you have seen the packet and recognize that the packet contains all of the project instructions and layout guidelines, and that your child must take care of his/her packet because they will not receive another copy. I am really working hard on those organizational and independent responsibility skills. :-) Once your child's topic is approved, he/she may begin designing their test and working on their project. Projects are due on March 27. No early submissions, please. I don't have room to store projects in the classroom. Most students need 3-5 weeks to complete the test, do the analysis of the results, write the report, and put together the tri-fold display. I suggest that students plan out their time with you so they are able to complete the project with enough time to do their best work.
