Mrs. R's News
Week #2 - August 26, 2016
This week we had a ton of fun! I am sharing things in this newsletter, and then switching to Facebook! (see the link below)
On Facebook, I can instantly add photos that I take during the day and share them, as well as videos, rather than waiting for a weekly or twice weekly newsletter. It is also a quick way to share information about school events, classroom happenings, assignments, and information about work.
Here is the link to our FB group!

HOMEWORK, etc.
Friday your student should have brought home a few papers. The first was a letter explaining homework at STEAM / 1st Grade, the second was a BoxTop collection sheet to help raise money for our school, and the third was a book order. Please turn reading logs each Friday and turn in the Scholastic Book Order on or by Friday, September 9th.
Measurement
This week we talked about measurement and how non-standard measurement can be a problem because not all things measure equally. We measured, traced, and cut out our feet and used it to measure items. After that, we measured the same items with rulers.
Working together
Discussing size while tracing
How many "feet" from door to door?
PLEASE be sure that your student has headphones/earbuds for iPads.
iPads were delivered on Thursday and we will begin integrating them into our curriculum next week.
