PCMS NEWS
February was full of action here at PCMS. Girls basketball and swimming really started their seasons and our undefeated wrestling team continued their winning streak until facing off with Franklin Central. We held 5th grade orientation, the yearbook cover contest, and had the 7th grade science fair. Students also attended a Pre-Istep Pep Rally and the last PTO Rec Night of this school year!
Let's get ready for Spring and enjoy this edition of The Red Pride Review.

Students of the Month *January*
Karlee Waugh, Evan Drennan, and Sierra Benge
Value of The Month: Equal Opportunity
I have witnessed him work with each of his peers, no matter who it is, in a way that boosts them, helps them learn, and helps them become a better person. Even when they did not respond well he would still treat them with the utmost respect and dignity; never losing his temper or patience with even the most exasperating of kids. Michael has a daily smile ready for who ever is willing to accept it, a joke to tell to get someone to laugh, and a "no one loses" attitude during any friendly competition in the classroom. He finds the positive in each person or situation, fixates on that, and eventually helps others see it too! It wouldn't matter if they were clean, filthy, hardworking, lazy, friendly, or rude he would do his very best to show them a positive and friendly demeanor at all times.
It takes a special kind of person to have this kind of patience and determination. Micheal is that special person and I am honored to recommend him for this award. If more students were like him we bullying would disappear, cliques would cease to exist, and happiness would be much easier to attain. If you struggle with finding the "silver lining" in a situation, he's the guy to see!"

A Note From Our Nurse:
New Year’s Resolutions for Teens-How to Be a Better You this Year
Many of us are familiar with the term “New Year’s Resolution”. MacMillan Dictionary defines the term as a decision that you make on the first day of the year about the things that you intend to do or stop doing during that year. Sometimes these goals that we set for ourselves are so lofty that they are unachievable and we give up even trying.
Here are some examples of realistic goals to consider setting for yourself for this year:
1. Get Healthy
Getting healthy doesn't just mean losing weight. It can also mean playing more sports, making healthier eating choices or just resolving to get off the couch a little more often. Make one small change at a time.
2. Be a Better You
Doing good things- by donating your time or old stuff to those in need, or just by throwing some random acts of kindness into your daily routine- feels so good that it can be addictive.
3. Show More Love to Your Family
Like it or not, your family is made up of the most important people in your life. This year, take a couple of deep breaths and resolve to be a little nicer to them.
4. Learn Something New
There's nothing more thrilling than the feeling of finally "getting something" or finding what “fits you” whether that be a new hobby, learning a new skill or even a new musical instrument. You might just learn a skill that you’ll love for the rest of your life.
5. Get Better in School
If you bump up your school performance by just a little bit this year, you'll feel better about yourself, you'll make your parents proud, and you'll be setting yourself up for a brighter future. So it's a good idea all around.
