Counselor's Corner
Respect is our leadership skill for September. Respect means to treat someone or something with value & care; to treat others the way you want to be treated.
At Home: Brainstorm with your kids examples of times they show respect at home & school.
Share several personal examples of times you have shown respect (at work, home, in the community, etc).
Bullying: This month I taught each classroom a lesson with research-based curriculum about bullying. Students learned the 3 R’s of Bullying - Recognize, Refuse, Report.
Recognize - bullying is repeated, on purpose, and 1-sided (or imbalance of power)
Refuse - be assertive and say stop when someone hurts you on the inside or outside
Report - tell a trusted adult if you experience or see others being hurt on the inside or outside of their body.
