The Sudie News
September 24-28, 2018
Principal's Prose
I hope that you all had a great weekend and introduction to the fall temperatures! I am certainly happy about a refrain from the seemingly endless summer’s heat as patio weather has arrived! As the official marker of fall is upon us, so is the first assessment marker of the year, in the form of district common assessments. With Sudie TAGs first official measurement of our progress, the opportunity is truly ours to rise and shine. As is embedded in the Sudie Lion’s Creed, “success is our Lion’s roar”, and the time to be heard is now!
During our PLCs this week, we discussed the cautionary danger of bleaching the red flags white. Though quite metaphorical in it’s presentation, the intended idea was the concrete practice of adding another lens to our instructional outlook. With so many distractions and trappings serving as the bleach to our know how and best practices, it remains our task to remain focused on the “red flags” once they emerge. Common assessments will give us a great snapshot of what our kids look like, those that are the ready and the red flags alike. As always, it is not where we are which will deremine our destination, however, what we will do in reponse to what we know. The systems and support are intact and ready, but the most important ingredient for student improvement reside within YOU!
Keep up the great work, stay fact focused and confident in your gift to make great things happen!
Make it a great week!
