Woodland Updates- February 2023

Play is the primary way children were designed to learn. ” Kathy Hersh-Pasek and Roberta Golinkoff"

I am thrilled to announce that Woodland is getting a new playground. Beginning mid-February, a new and improved playground will be installed at Woodland. Our new structure includes pieces that are accessible and promote coordination as well as collaborative play.

The project will take approximately three weeks to complete. The students will have recess in the gym and/or use the blacktop only for recess while our new playground is installed.

I am eager to see the excitement on their faces once our new playground is complete.

Health and Safety

If your child is sick, please do not send them to school. If your child has vomited the night before or has a fever, please do not send them in. We are trying our best to keep the building a healthy environment for all.

Please reach out to the school nurse with questions on whether its appropriate to send your child in.

Your partnership on this matter is appreciated.

Important Reminders

Please send notes for any dismissal changes or if your child will not be taking the bus home.

Consistent early pick-ups and calls into the classroom with dismissal updates disrupt instruction.

Please plan for your child to finish the school day as often as possible.

Valentine's Day

As we approach Valentine's Day, please remember that parties are foodless and there is no candy allowed at school.

Thank you for your cooperation.

We are so excited to have Ms. Nancy Stropnicky who will be covering our Science classes for Mrs. Mortillo until he returns in March. Ms. Stropnicky is an experienced teacher and is familiar with the Morris School District as she has works as long- term substitute teacher. Therefore, she is familiar with our approach to learning.

Beginning in February, Mrs. Polcaro will be teaching art at Morristown High School. We thank Mrs. Polcaro for all she has done for Woodland students and wish her the best of luck in her new position. Mrs. Corinaldi, Woodland's well-known substitute, will be covering for art until a replacement is identified. She is familiar with our students as well as school culture.
