IAR TESTING: 8th Grade: March 11, 12, 13
Principal's Message
As we are all aware, there is understandable concern about the COVID19 virus. The district will continue to keep families apprised of any updated information.
IAR standardized testing begins Wednesday, March 11, in Grade 8. It is important to arrive at school on time, charge chromebooks, and bring earbuds or headphones. Mr. Steen has provided the IAR testing schedule in this newsletter. The best advice for any student preparing to take an exam is to get plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast, listen carefully, and try one's best. Standardized testing is only one indicator of a student's academic progress and I am confident in our students' ability and preparedness.
Thank you for your continued confidence in the work we do.
Don't forget to "Spring Forward" this weekend!

MRS. SMITH REMINDS EVERYONE . . .
Viruses are a common problem. No one likes being sick. These are things that we should always be doing to prevent becoming sick or making others sick.
-Keep your child him when they are sick. Students need to stay home for 24 hours after they have a fever, and after an episode of vomiting or diarrhea. Do not use medications like ibuprofen or tylenol and send your child to school if your child has a fever.
-Instruct your child to wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds (sing ABC or Happy Birthday twice) after they go to the bathroom, before and after eating, after blowing their nose or coughing or sneezing.
-If they cannot wash their hands, then they should use hand sanitizer.
-Instruct your child to cough or sneeze into their elbow and away from other people.
-Instruct your child to avoid touching their eyes, nose, mouth.
Work hard to stay well!
GREG FUDALA, BAND DIRECTOR: UPDATE !
Lincoln Bands have had a busy start to 2020.
In January the Lincoln Jazz Band participated in the Jazz Jamboree held at Thomas MS in Arlington Hts. 25 middle school bands played for a panel of professional musicians and college professors for comments and suggestions for improvement.
On February 4, the 6th grade Intermediate Band and 5th grade Beginning Band performed in the 9th “First Annual” Ground Hog Day concert at Lincoln. For fifth graders this was their first band performance of their young career.
The Lincoln Festival of Music held at Lincoln on February 20, found many Lincoln band and orchestra musicians performing a solo for critique and rating in front of a panel of guest judges. Thirty-four of our Lincoln musicians received a rating of Excellent or Superior for their performance.
On March 16 retired Director of Bands at Buffalo Grove High School, Mr. Ed Jacobi will work with the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble in a clinic. Mr. Jacobi has worked with hundreds of middle school and high school bands throughout his long career.
The Concert Band and Wind Ensemble perform next on Wednesday, March 18 in the annual Prospect HS Middle School Band Festival. This performance will feature Prospect HS, South MS and Lincoln MS.
