Portage Township Schools | An Indiana "B" School District!
August 21, 2020
This week's newsletter contains a great deal of reminders as well as new information. Please look it over and email us at ptscommunications@portage.k12.in.us or contact your child's school if you have any questions.
2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR
- Wednesday, September 2: E-Learning Day - Students will complete self-guided assignments on this day so our staff members can participate in professional development.
- Monday, September 7: Labor Day - No School (no virtual learning or e-learning)
Portage Township Schools administration is continuing to work with the Porter County Health Department as we monitor the number of cases of COVID-19 in our community. We are working on re-entry protocols for quarter 2 based on our Back to School Plan with the goal of conducting a form of in-person learning. PTS Virtual will continue to be an option for all families. We will provide more details as they are available.

KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE WITH SECURLY
In addition to the services offered by Securly, there are a number of steps you can take to keep your child safe while online:
- Set rules and time limits on devices, including school-issued devices and cell phones.
- Make sure children use their devices in a common area of your home.
- Have open and honest conversation about online safety.
- Remind your child to only friend people who they know and report anyone who makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
- Let your child know they can talk to you about concerning things they see online.
Students and families should report online bullying or other concerning behaviors. If you need help, contact your child's school. Our principals, counselors, and school advisers are here to help.
