Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
It has been a wonderful week here at Lions Park! We have so enjoyed having so many students in the building all day. I am sure students and staff are all tired after this week. We know that even those staying remote had to navigate new schedules, meet new classmates and potentially adjust to a new teacher. Everyone is working hard to learn all the new components of our day and even to remember to go back to the things that are not new. I have personally forgotten to do announcements twice this week after thirteen months of not doing them! In addition, we are constantly learning and tweaking our practices and procedures. Please feel free to share feedback with use so that we can do the very best to meet the needs of our entire school community.
Thanks to all for your caution and cooperation during drop off and pick up! The construction has certainly added another layer of challenge to this time, but things have overall gone smoothly thanks to all of you pulling all the way up at the drop off zones and quickly saying goodbye as your children exit curbside. Our staff have worked hard to keep pedestrians safe from cars and construction. We did have a request from the bus company that cars not park near the curve on School Street north of the school near the park. They are afraid they will hit parked cars as they make that turn. We appreciate anything you can do to avoid parking in this location.
The students have overall been doing a wonderful job with wearing masks. I encouraged them on the announcements to feel free to kindly remind others to pull their mask up if it is falling beneath their nose. You can help us by ensuring that your child’s mask fits well and that they have extras in their backpack.
Lunch and recess have been working out quite well for the most part. Feel free to send your child with a cloth placemat or towel if they eat in the gym or multipurpose room. We provide them with paper placemats if not, but reusable ones would obviously be more economical and better for the environment. I have been packing a cloth one in my daughter’s lunchbox (on the days I remember!).
We will be doing MAP testing next week for second-fifth grades. The students will take the reading test on Tuesday and the math test on Wednesday. Please encourage your child to take his or her time and put forth their best effort. This will be the only district benchmarking this year, but students will take the state required tests as well.
You can also find other information about the District 57 protocols on the COVID-19 page of the D57 Website.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly

Technology Issues
Although technology can work well, there are times when it just does not work correctly. Teachers will not be available to respond to emails during instructional times. Instead, please submit a Remote Learning Technology Support form by clicking here. Once submitted, someone from our District Technology Team will contact you to provide assistance.
If you experience a technical issue, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:
Restart the Chromebook (make sure it turns all the way off before turning back on).
Quit any unused applications.
Sign out of an application if it's not working, and sign back in.
Move closer to your internet router if you are experiencing connectivity issues.
Turn off any accessibility features i.e., contrast mode, special cursor that may be set on the Chromebook. These can cause applications to run slow.
