Safety Reminders
We continue to have parents create unsafe situations during arrival and dismissal on the streets around our school. We have had an increase in reported near-misses between cars or cars and children. For the safety of everyone, please remember these rules:
Car Rider Drop-Off / Pick-Up - Students who have any part of their journey in a car are car riders. Car rider drop-off and pick-up is through the teacher parking lot off of Whispering Falls. Students should not be dropped off in any other location, nor should you be parking on the side streets and walking students to the door nor should you be doing U-Turns in the middle of the streets during these busy times. This is the cause of the majority of our traffic scares during arrival and dismissal.
The afternoon dismissal line wraps around the building. Please see the map below. If you enter the line at any point other than the end you will be asked to exit the line once you get to the teacher parking lot and go to the front office to check your child out because you car tag will not have been recorded in our system and your child will not be ready to dismiss.
Walkers & Bike Riders - Students who complete their entire trip to/from home and school are considered walkers or bike riders. If you intend to meet your child in a car at any point, please follow the car rider instructions above. Students known to be picked up by car at our walker intersections will be held in the car rider area for proper pick up.
School Events - Please also be aware of your surroundings when coming to the school during the day. Please do not park in front of driveways or mailboxes in the homes surrounding Bear Creek Elementary!
