Talley Street Update

October 28, 2019

From the Principal

Dear Talley Street Community,

A reminder about Friday's Principal Chat following the Talley Rally in the cafeteria. The topic is the Title 1 program at Talley Street.

Also, car rider reminders:

  • Only right hand turns are allowed in and out of Talley Street's parking lot during car arrival and dismissal times
  • Do not use the bus lanes to turn around
  • Do not use the parking lot of the loft condos to drop off students. The residents of the lofts have sent many complaints.

Thank you and have a great week!

Talley Street Music Update

Talley Parents,

Today you and your child are receiving a notice about purchasing a recorder and music. Please find the letter in your child's folder. This instrument will improve their ability to read music, ear training, hand and eye coordination, ensemble playing, and overall musicianship. Recorder playing will begin in January.

If your child has one in good condition, you need not buy another. There is an option of purchasing music that we will play once a week. Having the music at home will allow your child to be better prepared for music class. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Talley Street Library Media Center Update!

Raina Telgemeier visited Talley Street last week as part of the On the Same Page program. Students learned about how she became a graphic novelist, what inspires her, and how she portrays her real life challenges in her writing and illustrating. See photos from the event here.

Over the past two weeks students have learned about a new reading challenge at Talley Street. The Reading Without Walls challenge encourages students to read books that are outside of their comfort zone and about people and things that are new or different from themselves. Read more about the challenge and stay up-to-date with Library Media Center activities. Check out our What's Happening in the Library Media Center web page here.

Questions about the library media center? Email Ms. Hanson!
