Welcome to a new school year at Unity Braxton Middle School! This year is certainly going to be different than what we are used to, but we are devoted to making it an amazing year! The UBMS Counseling Department publishes newsletters each month to share important information and tips with students and parents. School Counseling Orientation Classroom Visits

During the last week of September, school counselors will be conducting a School Counseling Orientation through Advisory/Jaguar Time. During this lesson, the school counselor will inform students on how to access the School Counseling Canvas page, Office Hours, Scheduling an appointment, and using technology. It is very important that parents complete the Return to Learn Packet that was sent out by Prince William County Schools. If a student wants to meet with groups or individually with a school counselor, the parent MUST complete the RTL Packet.

UBMS Clothing Give Away

On October 13, 2020 from 10:00 am- 2:00 pm, Unity Braxton MS will have a FREE Clothing Give Away for Unity Braxton families. There will be a variety of sizes ranging from infant to adult, along with shoes.

Families must complete the Sign-Up Genius for a time-slot to pick-up clothing. Please fill out the attached link and select a time to arrive. Arrive promptly for your time slot, as we can only allow a certain number of families in as per COVID-19 procedures. Please wear a mask. Gloves will be provided. Families MUST have a time slot to be admitted to shop for clothes. You WILL NOT be admitted to shop if you have not reserved a time.

If you are unable to complete the form, please call the school during regular office hours (8 am-3 pm) and you will be assigned a time.

Clothing will be replenished throughout the day. Tables will be set up in the bus loop for you to shop after check-in with UBMS Staff.

BRAWS Donations to Unity Braxton Middle School

Each month, BRAWS, will be donating undergarments and sanitary products to UBMS. During the month of October, families will be able to pick up undergarments and sanitary products during the Clothing Give-Away on October 13, 2020 from 10 am-2 pm. Make sure to sign up for a time-slot. If you are unable to make it to the Oct. 13th Clothing Give-Away, please look for more information coming in November.

During Physical Education classes the week of Oct. 20th, school counselors will be presenting a lesson on Coping During Difficult Times to all grade levels. Please review the attached letter for more specific information about the presentation.

Enrollment, New Students & Transfers

If you are planning on registering and enrolling or transferring your student here to Unity Braxton Middle School. Please complete the online registration. Link is provided below. Mrs. Escobar, Counseling Secretary & School Registrar will be in contact with you to set up a face-to-face appointment AFTER you have completed the online portion of the registration process.

Schedule Change Request Forms

EVERY schedule change (adding or dropping) requires a Schedule Change Request Form.

Priority for schedule change requests will be given to students who submit their forms within the first ten days of school. (September 21, 2020)

No schedule change requests will be accepted AFTER September 25, 2020.

The High School Special Opportunities Application

The deadline to submit applications is February 1, 2021.

Deadline for The Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Colgan High School is Monday, December 7, 2020.

Information for 8th Graders: Thomas Jefferson High School

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is a specialized high school in Fairfax County for students who have a passion for science, technology, engineering and math (S.T.E.M.). Admission to the school is highly competitive.
