A is for Apple.... Apple Education of course! Since becoming a librarian, I have grown to love and become slightly addicted to my Apple products. Since COVID-19, Apple Education has stepped up and provided kids with lots of cool activities, app suggestions, podcast ideas, and much more. I can't wait for us to get back to school so that I can show you my plans for our 921 - Biography section in the library! Mrs. Jennifer and I have worked hard to order some cool new books on current and historical biographies that you will love! Until we can get back into our library, check out these cool resources that feature BIOGRAPHIES!
NCWise Owl : Britannica Biographies
This is a site that many of you have seen before during our research lessons. Each biography is organized by the person's last name. This site might ask for a password - just email me and I'll give you everything that you need!
EPIC! : Famous American Biographies
You know how much I love getEPIC! They make life so much easier and have created a collection of American biographies just for you! Check it out! And don't forget to search for the books that you read in Accelerated Reader - you might can take a quiz on them!
Once you dig deeper into some of these famous lives, try showcasing the information that you've learned by trying one of these projects (or more if you'd like)!
- Create your favorite famous person out of Play-doh, popsicle sticks, LEGOs, or any other common household materials. Use your figurine and share some cool facts about your person with family and friends.
- Dress up like your favorite famous person and share the cool facts that you learned by pretending to be them in front of your family!
- Write down 5 questions that you would like to ask your famous person if you could interview him/her.
- Create a timeline of important events from your biography's life.
- Try to find another book about your favorite famous person - kick back and enjoy!

- Spell your first and last name using the NATO alphabet!
- Try using the NATO alphabet around the house - it will drive your parents crazy (unless your parent is one of the professionals listed above - they'll be an expert at it instead!)
- Take a look at this video (Alphabet With Empathy) and see how one woman thinks of creating her own version of the alphabet using words that inspire her. Now, you give it a try! Write each letter on a piece of paper and create your own unique NATO phonetic alphabet!
