Goodbye September....Hello October!
Volunteer Opportunities:
- We need people to help in the cafeteria or out on the playground from 10:20-1:40, especially on rainy days! We do not have enough people to cover our duties on days that it is raining outside.
- Help facilitating Yo-Yo sales October 11th, 12th and 13th from 8:30-9:00 am!
- Help escorting classes and students to and from school pictures on the stage on October 4th starting at 8:50.

Calling all Readers!
After School Book Club
Book Club is an afternoon after school club where we
read books and talk about characters,
settings, problems, in a friendly
atmosphere. We come to read and have
thoughtful discussions.
Once buses are dismissed, we will take
the kids out for a short recess for fresh air
and movement break. Upon returning
into the building, a snack will be
provided. You may also pack a snack as
well. As they eat their snack there will be
a read aloud before they begin their book
club choice. Please be prompt at 5:30 to
pick up your child.
This is sponsored by the Crockett Foundation.
We meet on Thursday afternoons. This is for grades 3-6.
Grades 3 + 4 will go into Ms. Eldridge’s room and read, while grades 5+ 6 will go into room 218; Mrs. Simpson’s room to read.
So....you may be hearing about iReady....
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on student responses. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.
i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual strengths and areas for growth. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn.

Congratulations Mrs. Jenna Pursley!
"The recipient is a beloved staff member who has been supporting students (and staff) for a number of years. This year, she stepped out into a new role, in a new space, but has remained a positive and willing member of the PCS team. At the start of the school year when needs were high, she was willing to step outside of her responsibilities to do what was best for students, even though it technically wasn’t “her job”. She has a huge heart for serving children. And her patience remarkably matches the challenge. Her calm consistency guides growth among all of us, and she recognizes and celebrates both the small steps as well as the big gains. Simply put, she gets results. The students are so fortunate to have her as part of their day here at PCS, and so is the staff. For these reasons and more, Mrs. Pursley deserves our Mugs and Kisses. Thank you so much Mrs. Pursley."
