Principal's Message
Welcome to our Week 4 newsletter. Our students and staff are continuing on their journey of high expectations and commitment to learning every day. I have been visiting our Year 3 and Year 4 classes this week and am so proud of the students and their amazing progress in writing. Well done to these students and their dedicated teachers.
Parking
As our building work is getting closer to completion there are currently a number of different trades working in the two construction sites each day. This unfortunately means that there is an increase in cars being parked around our school. Student safety on the roads around our school is our absolute priority. Parents and carers are reminded to adhere to all traffic regulations around our school, this includes not parking in no stopping zones, adhering to the school zone area along Box Road, not double parking and holding the hands of young people as they cross the road. No children should be called across the road. Thank you for your support in ensuring that all students are safe as they arrive at school and leave at the end of the day.

This is a reminder for parents and carer of students in Year 5.

Thank you for your feedback TTFM, Parent Forums and P&C
I would like to say a big thank you to all of the families who have worked with us this year and provided valuable feedback through our Tell Them From Me survey, parent forums and through our P&C. We believe strongly in working together in partnership with our families to ensure that our school is an excellent place of learning for our students. Please come along to our future Parent forums (to be held in Mrs Lloyd's classroom every second Thursday at 2pm) - Also check out our Facebook page for updates and opportunities to share your ideas with us.
2020 Kindy, and new students
As the year draws to a close we are busy planning for 2020. To ensure that we have the appropriate number of staff to start the year off successfully it is essential that we know how many children will be at Prestons next year. If you know of anyone who will be starting at Prestons next year, please ask them to contact our school office for an enrolment form. Additionally if your child will not be attending Prestons in 2020 please advise our office.
100% attendance in 2 Leopards
Regular school attendance is important. Did you know that being 15 minutes a day late means that your child misses 9 days of learning a year, over a whole school career of 13 years this equates to 117 days of missed days at school . At Prestons Public School we love that our teachers, students and their families value education. Congratulations to 2 Leopards who had 100% attendance today. Each week we will be rewarding classes that have had a full week of 100% attendance with a special ice block award.
Have wonderful week and don't forget to ask your child what they are learning.

To say this year has gone fast would be an understatement. We cannot believe that in a few short weeks we will be heading into Year Four!
This term we’ve been busily focusing on levelling up through our sight word lists, learning how to multiply decimals, writing poetry, learning about space and completing Sphero challenges among other things.
This term we went to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney to supplement our learning of our science topic Guardians of the Galaxy. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about what the life of an astronaut is like and also playing in the experiment room.
Last Wednesday we participated in an Oz Tag and Soccer Gala day run by the students at Lurnea High School. What a great day we had. One of our teams went through undefeated. It was such a great day.
We hope that everyone has an amazing end to the school year. We cannot wait to see how the year ends.
