How Dinosaurs Went Extincted
What Really Did Kill the Dinosaurs?
Did you know that there are many different theories about how dinosaurs went extinct? Some of them seem really crazy but can be true such as a meteorite the size of .6 miles! The theories about how dinosaurs went extinct have evidence behind them but have not proven to be true. This article will be teaching you about Comet, Asteroid and Meteorite theories, other theories, and fossil that have been found.
Comet, Meteorite, and Asteroid Theories
The most common theory among scientists is the meteorite theory. They have evidence of meteorites because of iridium which is rarely found on Earth and comes from meteorites. Also a huge meteorite or rock from space the size of .6 miles could have hit earth.
Comets are also very common in the thinking of the how Dinosaurs went extinct. There is a lot of evidence that supports the comet theory, such as comets let would have let go of a bunch of stuff and that stuff would have hit Earth. If it was a comet it would have done a lot of damage. Comets are big ice balls from space.
Another theory is that an asteroid could have killed them. If an asteroid was going so fast it could have exploded in the sky and killed dinosaurs because of the explosion, or just caused a big impact.
There are many other theories. Some are caused by the environment or space. One theory is the climate could have changed. Another theory is that something from space could have hit earth causing dirt and rocks in huge amounts ground into dust and had the dust go miles and miles in the air the dust would have blocked sunlight giving no heat or light for a long time and then ruined plants causing most of the food chain to fall. Another theory that could have happened because of something in space was a star exploded and dropped radiation on Earth. Also there is a theory of smaller dinosaurs eating the eggs of the bigger dinosaurs.
There are a lot of fossils that have been found. Dinosaur fossils have been found in every continent. Also Fossils have been even found on islands in the ocean. Dinosaurs fossils have been found 1,500 times over the past 20 years. The kinds of fossils found throughout the years are dinosaurs nests, eggs, and hatch lings and they have been found in 199 places. Also archaeologists have found teeth, bones, and foot prints.
New things about dinosaurs are being found every day. There has not been a proven theory yet but that doesn't mean that a theory will never be proven. Trying to figure out how dinosaurs went extinct will be tough because dinosaurs were of the face of earth 65 million years ago. “Dinosaurs are extinct today because they lacked opposable thumbs and brainpower to build a space program” said Neil deGrasse Tyson, The Sky is Not the Limit: Adventures of an Urban Astrophysicist. Dinosaurs couldn't protect themselves like people could have now. People will always ask the question, what really did kill the dinosaurs?
