Overview of Training
This series is designed to teach the basics of Project Based Learning. By the end, you should be ready, willing, and able to use this effective teaching method with your students.
The workshop and the materials have been designed to exemplify the experience of a project. The "project" you will undertake is to plan a project for use in your classroom.
Outcomes:
- Increase understanding of the Gold Standard PBL Essential Project Design Elements
- Increase awareness of student strengths, interests, and needs, in order to make instructional decisions
- Develop an awareness of the Project Based Teaching Practices and how they inform project design and implementation
- Deepen understanding of formative and summative assessment practices that support PBL design and implementation
- Reflect on the needs of learners and incorporate scaffolding strategies to support learning throughout a project
- Explore, use, and reflect upon project management tools and processes that can transfer to classroom practice/instruction

Costs/Registration Fees
PBL 101 (3 days):
$35 or employees of districts/agencies in Madison, Champaign, Clark, Hardin, Logan and Shelby counties
$55 for employees of districts/agencies in counties other than those listed above.
*Registration fees should be paid to the Madison-Champaign ESC

Food & Beverage: Coffee, bottled water, and assorted snacks will be available throughout the workshops. Soda will be available to purchase for an additional $0.50 from the front desk.
What You Should Bring: Participants should bring note-taking materials, writing utensils, and electronic devices (i.e. laptop and/or chromebook) with them to the sessions.
Our Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received no closer than 7 business days from the date of the workshop. Cancellations received outside of this policy will not be accepted. Attendees and/or employing districts will be billed accordingly.
