2016 Science Olympiad Competition

Please help me in congratulating our 2015-2016 Science Olympiad Team! Our K-2 team competed Saturday at Northside High School against 15 OCS Elementary School Teams comprised of students in grades 3-5. RPS placed FIRST in two events! They placed in 6th-10th place in the majority of the challenges! Sophia Barnett and Abigail Bravo placed first in the Pasta Tower Challenge. Bryant Newbold, Kyler Ornoski and Tristan Messerschmidt placed first in the STEM Design Challenge.

In addition, our RPS Team won the "Spirit Award" from the judges! Our team was commended for showing the best team work within their team as well as helping other teams ("Always the first team to help other teams with materials or supplies.").

Our team would not have done so well without the help, support and guidance of the coaches. Please pay a special congratulations to: Sarah Barnett, Ivy Newbold, Beatriz Bravo, Eric LeFurge, Jonathan Wisniewski, and Rebecca Watson.

School Counselor Appreciation Week

School Counselor Appreciation Week- February 1st - 5th! Please help make Mrs. Bowker feel appreciated for everything that she does for our students and RPS!

Bus Drive Appreciation Week

Bus Driver Appreciation Week- February 8th - 12th. Please encourage your students to make their bus drivers feel appreciated!

Lesson Plans

Administration understands that there has been difficulty throughout the year uploading lesson plans to Edmodo - especially during the time Edmodo was updating heir system. You are now able to upload lesson plans to Edmodo directly to your lesson plan folder without having to go through your library.

It has been difficult for administration to find lesson plans for some teachers. Now that Edmodo is working properly again, ALL lesson plans for the entire year should be in your Edmodo lesson plan folder by 8:00 tomorrow morning, Monday, February 1. Administration will conduct a review of all lesson plan folders to ensure compliance. Teachers not in compliance will be asked to meet with administration.


Please make sure that you are taking and submitting student attendance daily through Power School. Attendance should be completed by 9:00 each morning. Some teachers are not marking students' attendance when they come in late or if they are checked out before noon. It is very important that student attendance is accurate. Ms. Howard submits a monthly report to the State. Please remember that student attendance is the responsibility of the teacher. Power School passwords should never be shared with anyone.

Lock-Down Drill

Everyone did a fantastic job during our lock-down drill this past Wednesday!! Thank you for your continued efforts in ensuring the safety of our students! We completed the drill in record time!

Instructional Assistant Evaluations

Instructional assistant evaluations were due on January 29th. As of now only two evaluations have been turned in. Please make sure you turn in evaluations after you have met with your assistant and everyone has signed. Mrs. Agrue will return a copy to teachers and assistant after she has signed.

2nd 9 Weeks Behavior Celebration

The 2nd 9 weeks positive behavior celebration will be on Friday, January 5th in the multi-purpose room. We will call for students when we are ready for them to come down. Please do not send students before we call. Please join us if you are able, just be sure to wear your dancing shoes! :)

ACCESS/ESL Testing Friday 5th

We will be utilizing the computer lab for ACCESS/ESL testing on Friday, February 5th. Please make sure classes are quiet in the hallways, especially at the bathrooms near the lab.

Staff Meeting Canceled

The staff meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 3 is canceled.

The Effective Learning Environments Observation Tool (eleot) focuses on seven key learning environments that promote effective learning and student success:

The observer is focusing on student behaviors. Observations range from 10 - 15 minutes in length (20 min. maximum).
