The United States Conquer
The Great Space Race
Summary
The Space Race of the 60's was one of the biggest arms races of the entire Cold War. When the United States and the Soviet Union began an intense battle free war, there were many conflicts such as creating the first atomic bomb. Although the biggest being the race to space. The two most powerful countries at the time had a massive race to see who could make it to space first.
Sputnik 1 Makes it to Space?!
The massive race between the United States and the Soviet Union was one of the biggest cold conflicts in recent American history. The leap from Earth science and discoveries to external earth discoveries was a large deal. The two most powerful countries both individually wanted to be the first ones in trying to prove and claim that they were the stronger and better country. The Soviet Union was able to beat the United States into space with the Sputnik 1 satellite. This was devastating to America and they had to be better.
First Man in Space.
As the Soviets won the first race to make it into space with a satellite was ended, next became the first man in space. The Soviets were very much on top of the United States by this point making the Soviet Union very happy and the U.S. only more determined. They lost the race to space but they hadn't lost the race to put a man on the moon. The Soviets were able to beat America yet again by placing the first man in orbit with the name of Yuri Gagarin. They were trumping the United States with feats and essentially winning the battle. When actual battles are not being fought, feats or achievements are the determining factor in the end and at that time the Soviets were killing the U.S.
Man on the Moon Brings the Win!
The Soviet Union was winning at this point and this urged the United States to find a new feat to top them. President Kennedy said before he died that America will put a man on the moon within the decade and beat the Soviets to it. Although Kennedy wasn't able to see this through, Johnson helped see that through for him. As the United States put a man on the moon before the Soviet Union did, this was the end of the space race. The winners get to dictate history and they explained the United States won in the end because they completed the ultimate challenge and when you have to out challenge your opponent in a cold war the U.S. clearly did that.
