IMPORTANT: Attention All Bus Riders
Please remember that bus passes to ride home with a friend to complete projects, study for tests, or just visit with each other, cannot be approved. Students must ride their assigned bus to their home each day. Parents who may have an extenuating circumstance requiring their student to ride an alternate bus for a specific date, should send a request, in writing, to the school office.
Parents requesting this exception should be available by phone in order to process the request. Please include a working number on the request, as approval cannot be granted without speaking with a parent.
Thank you for your cooperation.
From the Desk of Our Wonderful PTSA:
Dear Pinckneyville Families,
Welcome to Pinckneyville Middle School! This year, the Pinckneyville Parent Teacher Student Association’s (PTSA) goals are to support our school’s teachers & staff, to promote volunteer involvement by enhancing working parent opportunities, and to encourage student leadership.
PTSA is very proud to support academic programs, special events, and fundraisers for our students, teachers, parents, and school. We encourage you and your students to join our PTSA by visiting our webpage on the school website to learn about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and PTSA happenings. Please consider supporting PTSA in the following ways:
- 2019-2020 Membership: The PTSA's goal this year is 100% parent and teacher participation. Membership dues are $10.00 per parent and payable on MyPaymentsPlus.com or in person on Meet Your Teacher Day. PTSA membership provides many benefits and discounts which are listed on http://www.georgiapta.org.
- Donations: In addition to your membership funds, 100% of your additional donations stay at Pinckneyville to support your student. Donations are payable on MyPaymentsPlus.com or in person on Meet Your Teacher Day.
- Volunteer: We encourage every parent to volunteer based on their availability. Look for event Sign-Ups in the weekly newsletter from the school. Research has shown that children are more successful when parents are involved - showing higher academic success, higher test scores, and increased attendance. Thank you in advance for sharing your precious time with the PTSA, our school, and your children.
- Save the Dates:
- August 29, 2019 General PTSA Membership Meeting & Curriculum Night: Meet teachers and administrators and hear about your students’ upcoming year.
- September 20, 2019 Reflections Entries Due: The PTSA believes all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to share their artistic talents through participation in the annual Reflections Arts Program. This year’s theme is “Look Within”.
- October 19, 2019 Fall Color Fun Run: This is PTSA’s only fundraiser of the year. With funds raised last year, PTSA purchased new chromebooks, a new scoreboard, a new outdoor umbrella for the cafeteria patio, new trumpets for the Band program, and funded the seventh grade Spanish restaurant project, all in addition to offering a $50.00 classroom grant to each teacher.
We know this will be another wonderful year! We encourage each of you to become involved. You can share your time and talents in so many ways to help your child succeed. If we can help answer questions about the PTSA or Pinckneyville Middle School, please do not hesitate to contact us at Pinckneyville.pres@gmail.com.
Best Regards,

Family Link Guide for Parents:
A guide to setting digital ground rules for your family
In today’s world, digital devices are everywhere – and they’re always demanding some sort of
attention – if we let them. For families, understanding and creating digital ground rules at
home is an important step in educating children about their relationship with technology. But
for many children, this can feel like a “power play” on the part of their parents – an exercise in
control. It doesn’t have to be this way. By making it into a conversation, you can help your
child understand why these rules are important. The topics are covered via Family Link, but discussions about technology use can be helpful for any parent. Family Link is an app that helps parents stay in the loop as their child begins using an Android device. Parents can use Family Link on Android* or iPhone.
