OVERVIEW OF OUR LAST TWO WEEKS

Two weeks ago today, we made the announcement that we were going to close schoolthrough March 31st. On March 18th, the County Health Department extended the closure through April 7th and the new order has us closed through May 1st. During this time, our staff has been working tirelessly in order to complete and continue essential functions.

Food service began serving breakfast and lunch to students every day beginning on Monday, March 16th. MOTF staff began deep cleaning classrooms and facilities at all the school sites; and as of today, are being reduced to a skeleton crew. Teachers have been working diligently to prepare homework activities for their students both in electronic format as well as in hard copy.

Thank you to the entire classified staff for your willingness to step in and assist with putting learning packets together for our students, ordering supplies, answering phones, and keeping students at the center of our work. The Educational Services division, with the support of all the principals, directors and coordinators, put in place a plan to distribute learning packets that have been distributed to students across the district between yesterday and today. The entire Business Department has been focused on making sure that the district's daily activities remain a constant so that payroll, accounts payable, and budgetary functions remain as regular routines. All of our Principals and Assistant Principals coordinated all the essential functions at each of their school sites and worked with all stakeholder groups in communicating all the logistics for parents and students.

This has been an incredible effort by all of our employees and it was very evident today as I visited school sites and saw the smiles on the faces of parents and students who were greatly appreciative of their meals and learning packets.

We've moved a great mountain in 10 working days. I'm proud to be part of such a fantastic community!
