Christmas Concerts are Coming!
Here's a few important details for Choir students and their families:
- Students should report to the High School cafeteria by 6:10pm on 12/8
- Students must wear black pants and a white top, either a collared shirt or sweater.
- Gentlemen may wear a black or grey tie. Ladies may choose to wear a black or grey scarf.
- The concert begins at 6:30pm. Please plan to stay for the entire show, as it is important we support all of the talented musicians.
- Masks will be required for all attending the concert.
Our Middle and High School Band concert is coming up on December 20th!
Power Hour
We are offering a guided study hall for students with late work to get caught up in a timely manner. We call this Power Hour. This is an after-school opportunity to empower students to have control over their academic success. Power Hour is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15-4:30. Students will call home informing you that they need to stay after school for this opportunity to be proactive with their homework. Please help us to help your child stay current with all homework by supporting this study hall and providing afterschool transportation when it is needed for your student.

A Reminder from Mrs. Eggert
Students MUST bring indoor use only gym shoes on the days they have Phys Ed., as noted in the school supply list. As you can imagine, street shoes get wet, salty, and sometimes muddy as students make their way into the building in the morning and that combination is bad news for our gym floor.
Thanks for helping your students remember!
Better as a Zephyr: Leading down the right track
Congrats to Brandon, Norah, and Rayna for being the first three students recognized for displaying integrity and compassion in the classroom!
Service Club Builders Club
Your child is invited to come to the next Builder’s Club meeting on Thursday, December 9th from 3:30 – 4:30 for the Christmas service project, along with Christmas treats! RSVPs are not necessary but are appreciated so enough snacks will be provided.
Students can RSVP with Miss Schmitz or by emailing mschmitz@smcatholicschools.org.
St Elizabeth Ann Seton Award
Happy New Liturgical Year!
Advent marks the beginning of the New Liturgical Year. This week your child has received an invitation to consider a “New Year’s Resolution” for living out their faith! We are inviting your students to consider working towards earning the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award! St. Elizabeth Ann Seton was the first American born saint and started the first parochial school. Imitating how she lived as a disciple of Christ, we are inviting your child to grow in their journey of discipleship in specific ways from December 1st to April 30th.
Forms are available on from your students’ religion teacher, on Google Classroom, and on our website. Details on this award can be found here.
Feel free to contact Terri Bonertz at tbonertz@smcatholicschools.org or Maria Schmitz at mschmitz@smcatholicschools.org with any questions regarding this opportunity.
New Sock Collection
Did you know new socks are the most common request of residents in assisted living facilities?
Two SMCMS students learned that fact and decided to ask their classmates to help meet a need by adopting the residents of a local assisted living. 45 ladies and 17 gentlemen live at American Grand Assisted Living in Neenah. Our goal is to collect new socks for each of them for Christmas.
All sock donations can be dropped off at SMCMS by December 10th. They'll be wrapped and delivered to the residents the following week.
Save the Date: Christmas Social
Please fill out the form attached and return it with $10 by Monday December 6th.
Hot Lunch Help Needed!
The volunteer shift this year will run from 11:00am-12:30pm. Volunteers must wear closed toed shoes and a hat or hairnet. If you are able to help, click here to reserve your spot.
Middle School After School Care
Saint Mary Catholic Middle School will offer after school care for the 2021-2022 school year from 3:15pm-5:15pm. Students will use this time to work on homework and assignments in the commons.
The fee for after school care will be $5.50 per hour per student. Please send a check to the school office to be credited to your after school care account (much like we do for hot lunch.) We will let you know when your balance is close to 0. Please preregister your student 24 hours in advance to participate.
Middle School students are not permitted to be on campus without adult supervision. If a student is still on campus after 3:30pm, they will be signed into After School Care.
Seeking Short Term Host Families for Special Program
SMCS is seeking host families for middle school aged-students from South Korea from January 5 to February 3. The students will attend middle school and have other cultural activities planned as a group on the weekends. Being a host family is a rewarding, fun and educational experience for all members of the family and an opportunity to create long-lasting relationships! A stipend of $600 will be paid for hosting. If interested, please contact Sue Thelen, SMCS International Coordinator, at sthelen@smcatholicschools.org or 920-722-7796, ext. 808.
