About John Winthrop
John Winthrop, Founder of the Massachusetts Bay Colony was born January 12, 1587 in Edwardstone of the United Kingdom. As a young man he was home schooled and was able to go to Trinity University. With a good education under his belt, he led a fleet of 11 vessels which carried 700 settlers to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Clashing with Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson, John was forced to leave his colony. After that, he became president for the Confederation of New England, dying March 24, 1649.
