We have wrapped up our animal unit in science and have begun studying the First Americans, the Native Americans. We have broken into groups and each group is reading and gathering information about a specific Native American group. We have examined artifacts that Native Americans appreciated and used from nature such as gourds, beads to use for trade, a turtle shell, and an authentic drum.
As writers, we are looking what writers do before they begin to write and that is to plan. We began today working through how to plan and organize our ideas before moving to a rough draft. We had a ball brainstorming and categorizing our ideas!
As readers we just finished Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing and will miss following the story of Peter and his little brother. Many students have expressed an interest in reading more books in the series to follow Peter and Fudge's adventures , so we will begin new book clubs next week!
In math, we are continuing to review place value and rounding in addition to adding and subtracting with regrouping.
Next week we will be working on a new vocabulary list! Check out spellingcity.com for games to play with the word list.
