Faculty Staff Memo

St. Gabriel School, September 28, 2015

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sacred Scripture: Mark 9:40
“For whoever is not against us is for us.”

Personal Meditation

How do we perceive media’s portrayal of family life? Is it realistic to what we know and believe through our Christian faith? How does the use of media such as cell phones, tablets, gaming systems, television, or the internet, affect our interactions with one another as a family?

Praying with you and for you as we focus on family and mission in Catholic education.

Blessings dear teachers and staff!

Please note we have 2 new students joining our school community! Shiv Patel in Grade 5, and William Jiminez in Kindergarten. Please keep that warm and welcoming and supportive spirit for them and for all our students alive and shining!

Prayerfully walking together with you to the Center, our Christ, with joy and gratitude,

Peace in the Father, love in Jesus, and courage and wisdom in the Spirit,

Donna Lee

On "Opening Day" for the Grizzly Learning Den, I would like to give a huge and deeply grateful thank you to Erin Trem, Joyce Gravagna, Jo Albers, Mary Henke, and Mark and maintenance crew for the tremendous planning, research, work, and care they have invested in our new media center initiative!

Thanks also to all staff for patience and support throughout! It is as all implementations and change going forward, a work in progress, but we are off the ground and on our way! And above all, accomplishing more and greater opportunities for our students to learn and grow in their educational formation!

Please continue to draw upon the many messages and actions of Pope Francis and his visit and journeys this past week. We are looking at new resources that are being developed now to offer you in your classrooms.

One thing I would ask all to do ... as Pope Francis repeatedly entreats us to pray for him, let us determine and create ways for our students to accomplish that daily. It might also be an incentive in the growth of our personal and communal prayer life overall, mindful more deeply of our dependence and need of our God, how much he loves us, how he calls us, and to whom goes all the glory and credit!

Lunch Room notes

Please remind your students to take the hand sanitizer squirts from the Noon Watch, and they can still wash hands too.

Also, a continual reminder teachers, to come to the Lunch Room by the time the first bell rings. Also, please when you get there, immediately go and gather your class to line up and leave. Part of the commotion is the milling around of students as teachers come to pick up. Advise and discuss with your students ahead of time. This is extremely important for smoother movement and calmer behavior. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!

Also, this is a reminder that by now everyone should know which students in their classes have any health/medical/allergy alerts. This is extremely important!

Thanks for all your help and support!!!!

Happy Birth - Day to all this week!

Please continue to pray for Andi as she goes through treatment and healing of her knee injury. Please also continue to pray for Joyce, as she goes through further treatment and examination of her back injury which is increasing in impact and pain. Please also pray for several on our staff whose children are needing treatments and surgeries and of course needing extra time and energy as they expend their love and care also for our students!

Let us continue to pray also for each other and all of our families, as colleagues and friends, and as companions on the discipleship journey of our mission in Christ. I know there are many unspoken needs, needing big and little prayers.

"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."

Please continue praying for parents and families in our school community needing prayers. Please note their names in the Weekly Parent VB Newsletter and keep them in your prayers.

Have a beautiful week!

I am praying for all of you, please pray for me,

Peace in the Father, love in Jesus, and courage and wisdom in the Spirit,

Donna Lee
